Gurugram, Sept 2: An FIR has been registered against Robert Vadra and four others under Prevention of Corruption Act and multiple sections of Indian Penal Code, in an alleged land-grab case in Gurugram that dates back to 2008.

Besides Vadra, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda, DLF Gurugram, and Onkareshwar Properties Gurugram, are also named in the FIR.

The FIR states that Vadra's company, Sky Light Hospitality, allegedly purchased land in various places in Gurugram and sold them at exorbitant prices soon after.

Talking about the same, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Manesar, Rajesh Kumar told ANI: "It has been alleged in the FIR that there have been irregularities in buying and selling of land and allotment of housing licenses for it. Allegations are against Robert Vadra, Bhupinder Hooda, DLF and Omkareshwar Properties."

"Since the case is registered under Prevention of Corruption Act we are handing over investigation details to gazetted officer ACP, Manesar. He will carry out further investigation," Kumar added.

The case has been registered under Sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 420 (Cheating), 467 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Criminal Misconduct by a public servant) in Kherki Daula police station of Haryana.

Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Jawahar Yadav, while quoting the complainant, said that Vadra's company had allegedly paid over Rs. 5.5 crore to Onkareshwar Properties to purchase land in Gurugam's Sector 83. However, a cheque for the same has not been deposited till date, he noted.

"One can surmise that there is a scam involved in the manner in which the Change of Lands Use (CLU) permission was obtained. Even when the CLU was done, a statement was released from the then chief minister's office that Vadra was the director of this company. Surprisingly, an agreement was reached for the sale of this land for Rs 58 crore. This is not a personal fight; this is our collective fight against corruption. The BJP government in the state and centre will not tolerate corruption at any cost," he added.

However, Vadra claimed that the FIR was filed to divert people from the "real issues."

"Election season, increase in oil prices.... so let's divert real people's issues with my decade-old issue. What's new," the statement read.

New Delhi, Jun 26: Petrol prices in the national capital have reached Rs 80.13 per litre on June 26, up by 21 paise from yesterday’s Rs 79.92 per litre; while diesel prices in Delhi also rose to Rs 80.19 per litre – up by 17 paise compared to yesterday’s Rs 80.02 per litre.

This is the 20th consecutive day that fuel prices have been hiked by oil marketing companies (OMCs). The hikes began from June 8 after a 83-day halt on revised pricing during the lockdown period.

The state government’s increased value-added tax (VAT) on diesel since May is causing the fuel’s prices to soar in Delhi. VAT was increased to 30 percent for both petrol and diesel from 27 percent and 16.75 percent, respectively.

Coupled with the Centre’s hiked excise duty of Rs 3 per litre since March 14 and then Rs 10 per litre on petrol and Rs 13 per litre on diesel since May 5 has affected prices.

The hike on diesel prices is unusual, as the government traditionally keeps the price for the fuel low due to its impact on agriculture and other high consumption economic activities.

Kanpur, Jul 11: "The Uttar Pradesh administration has done the right thing by taking action against my son," said an old and feeble Ram Kumar Dubey, father of gangster Vikas Dubey.

The father said his son killed eight police officials and it was an unforgivable sin.

"Had he listened to us, his life would not have ended this way. Vikas never helped us in any way. Due to him, even our ancestral property was razed to the ground. He also killed eight policemen, which is an unforgivable sin. The administration has done the right thing. Had they not done so, tomorrow others would have acted similarly," Ram Kumar said.

"It is the chief minister's duty to protect every individual. The police is an extension of that. He attacked them which cannot be forgiven. I will not even take part in his cremation," he added.

Ram Kumar Dubey said that his only appeal to the government is to allow him entry to his ancestral property now.

Vikas Dubey was cremated at Bhairav Ghat in Kanpur. His wife, younger son and brother-in-law were present and no other member of his family attended the last rites.

Vikas Dubey was arrested by the police in Ujjain on Thursday morning. He was on the run for the last six days and had come to the city to offer prayers at a temple, where he was identified by a security guard.

He was killed in an encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Police earlier today after he "attempted to flee".

The gangster was the main accused in the encounter that took place in Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur last week, in which a group of assailants opened fire on a police team, which had gone to arrest him.

Eight police personnel were killed in the encounter.

Vikas Dubey managed to escape after the incident. Uttar Pradesh police had launched a hunt and raised a bounty on him for Rs 5 lakh.

Lucknow, Jan 21: Defending his brainchild, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the new law will not be scrapped despite the countrywide protests against it.

Addressing a rally here to drum up support for the CAA, Shah also declared that construction of a Ram temple "touching the skies" in Ayodhya will begin within three months.

He said there is no provision in the amended law for taking anyone's citizenship away. "A canard is being spread against the CAA by the Congress, SP, BSP, and Trinamool Congress. The CAA is a law to grant citizenship," he added.

"I want to say that irrespective of the protests this will not be withdrawn," he added.

Shah challenged Congress leaders to hold a discussion with him on CAA at a public forum.

He named Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party's Mayawati and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee while throwing the "challenge".

Congress has become blind due to vote bank politics,"he said. He also blamed the Congress for Partition.
