Harassed by moneylender, police constable ends life

Constable Parameshwar, 31, who was attached to Hunsur town police station consumed poison near Gavi Mutt at Gourishankara Nagar at the foothill of Chamundi Hills on Tuesday evening. Police said that Parameshwar had taken loans from a moneylender, Jagadish, who had beun hounding him to return the money.

Unable to bear the harassment, Parameshwar on his way back from duty went to a secluded place in Gourishankara Nagar and consumed poison. Passersby who saw the constable writhing on the ground, informed police. KR Police who have registered a case are investigating.

Tired migrant worker collapses and dies before boarding train in Karnataka

Bengaluru, May 21:Tragedy struck an elderly migrant worker who was looking forward to joining his family as he died on reaching a nearby railway station to board a Shramik Special train to his home state Madhya Pradesh, police said on Thursday.

The 69-year old man, who worked in a coffee estate in Chikkamagaluru, collapsed and died soon after getting down from a state-run KSRTC bus that brought him and others to the Chikkabanavara Railway station on Wednesday.

According to police, fellow labourers said he had been ailing for quite some time.

The cause of his death would be known only after a post-mortem, police added.

Karnataka government has been sending back thousands of migrant workers stranded in the state due to the COVID-19 lockdown by arranging the special trains.

Dog with its mouth sealed by tape for 2 weeks rescued in Kerala

Thrissur, Jun 11: Volunteers of People for Animal Welfare Services rescued a dog that had its mouth sealed with insulation tape around it for two weeks in Ollur of Thrissur district.

The dog has now been shifted to an animal shelter home.

Recently two elephants died in Kerala. One pregnant elephant died after consuming crackers wrapped in some fruits in Palakkad.

Another elephant died in Malappuram after it was found seriously injured in North Nilambur forest range of the district.
