Harrassed for gaving baby child, woman ends life

Belagavi, Jan 16: A twenty-six-year-old woman hanged herself to a ceiling fan late on Monday night. She was allegedly fed up by the torture of her husband’s family for giving birth to a girl child.

Akshata Vidyadhar Kakatikar, a resident of Om Nagar, Khasbag is the deceased. Her father Vinayak Sonar has registered a complaint in Shahapur police station alleging that Akshata was constantly tortured by her husband’s family members after she gave birth to a girl child a year ago.

Akshata was from Nandigatti village in Halyal taluk of Uttar Kannada district. She had married Belagavi-based Vinayak Kakatikar two years ago. The complaint has been registered against Akshata’s husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Wah bhai wah. Kya insaaf hai. shame on these law makers for making illogic statements and rules. Hundreds of thousands of hindu sisters are forced to live in a pathetic way due to kicking out from their in law houses. These women are forced to live on the mercy of others as they cannot get married again. Govt is not showing any mercy on them. Whereas Muslim women are allowed to remarry after talaq. But this is not acceptable to our govt and it needs Muslim women also to suffer.

RSS holds closed door meeting with 70 columnists

New Delhi, Feb 18: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is holding a daylong meeting with 70 columnists from across India on Tuesday in an effort to clear misconceptions about the organisation, sources said.

RSS chief Bhagwat, who last year met representatives of international media organisations posted in India, is expected to deliver a keynote address that will be followed by a free-flowing conversation, they said.

The 70 columnists attending Tuesday's meeting write in different languages.

The meeting, in Chhattarpur in New Delhi, is a closed-door meeting and the proceedings are "strictly confidential", the sources said

Three more Covid-19 patients in Mangaluru recover, discharged from hospital

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Three people, including a woman, who were being treated at the city's Wenlock Hospital have been discharged after they recovered from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

With this, a total of 12 people who had tested positive for the virus until Thursday have been discharged from various hospitals in Dakshina Kannada.

A 39-year-old advocate from Uppinangady tested positive for Covid -19 on Friday, he has been admitted to the Wenlock Hospital and is being treated. With this, only one COVID-19 positive patient is being treated at Wenlock Hospital till Friday evening.
