HDK is losing popularity: GT Devegowda

Mysuru, Dec 11: JD(S) MLA G T Devegowda on Wednesday said that JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy should be cautious before making any statement.

Devegowda was speaking to reporters, at Jayapura village, here. 

He said, Kumaraswamy, who served as Chief Minister for two times, had a good number of followers. "No other CM had followers like him. But, he is losing popularity because of his irresponsible statements," Devegowda said.

Blaming Kumaraswamy for accusing Devegowda of involving in anti-party activities during bypolls, Devegowda said, "I had told Kumaraswamy directly that Congress party wins in Hunsur segment and I remained neutral."

Devegowda said, his son, also MDCC president G D Harishgowda, is independent and he might have worked for Congress candidate.

For a query that BJP candidate A H Vishwanath's allegation that Devegowda supported Congress, Devegowda said Vishwanath was defeated as he neglected local leaders.

New Delhi, May 20: In further relaxation of lockdown rules, domestic flights will begin operations from May 25 in a calibrated manner. Currently, only cargo and evacuation flight services are allowed.

The nationwide lockdown to halt the spread of coronavirus is in place till May 31. However, certain relaxations have been allowed.

All airports and air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from next week, tweeted civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The standard operating procedures for passenger movement will be separately issued by the ministry, said the minister.

Puttur, Jan 8: NCC Officer and two NCC Cadets of St Philomena College Puttur have been selected to participate in prestigious Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2020 in New Delhi.

NCC Officer, Lt. Johnson David Sequeira, Assistant Professor of Bachelor of Social Work has been selected as Contingent Officer of Karnataka and Goa Directorate to train the cadets in New Delhi.

Senior Under Officer Chethan P of first year BCA has been selected to Flag Area and Prime Minister’s Rally.

Junior Under Officer Mahalasa Pai of first year BCom has been selected to participate in cultural event which will be presented on the occasion of VIP’s visit.

These two meritorious cadets of the NCC wing of the College underwent a four months’ rigorous training at various places of Karnataka.

Mangaluru, Apr 19: In order to boost the Coast Guard's (CG) surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities on the country's west coast in Karnataka, CG OPV Varaha and CG Dornier 785 ex Kochi were pressed to service to undertake extensive surveillance.

"Both seawards and aerial surveillance of Karnataka coast line will be undertaken from Sunday," said S Babu Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka. The surveillance will be an air-sea coordinated operation.

The Coast Guard ships and aircraft maintained extensive search in the area for intercepting any suspect vessel. Indian Coast Guard ships classified various contacts in the area and kept them under constant surveillance.
