Hindus ‘hurt’ as Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shown as Vishnu idol

January 13, 2016

New Delhi, Jan 13: Fortune Magazine cover page has shown Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos as a Hindu deity in its January issue, thus hurting the religious sentiments of the NRI community in US.

JeffIn the illustration, drawn by artist Nigel Buchanan, Bezos has been portrayed as Lord Vishnu, holding lotus in one hand and showing the amazon logo in the other palm.

The US based magazine's cover story titled “Amazon Invades India,” is about the global e-commerce giant's penetration into the Indian market –one of the fastest growing markets for Amazon.

It may be recalled that India's legendary skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni also courted controversy in 2013 for appearing in an advertisement on the cover of Business Today as Lord Vishnu holding a number of things.

A case has been registered against Dhoni under section 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) along with 34 of the IPC.

ALLAH says in QURAN : O mankind! Worship you Lord (ALLAH) who created YOU and those were before YOU, so that you may become Al muttaqun (Pious).
When ALLAH says he is your LORD.. Intelligent person will try to look & learn what ALLAH says & VERIFIES what he says & if not confirmed he experiment what he Says.
BE one of this INTELLIGENT Person... U will be successful in the eyes of the one who gave LIFE & DEATH.

It is true it hurts our people.

Secondly : It is our Hindu brother's mistake, they are portraying God as men.

The God can not be like human being or any other creature.
The God is creator of everything and almighty. Then how can the God be given the picture of man.

If there is no picture, then nobody can play around with God.

God help us to understand you, your strength, your power and your guidance to all of us so that we succeed here and hereafter.

May 6: Congress general secretary KC Venugopal on Tuesday termed as "inhumane" the government's decision to "impose excessive costs" on NRIs and expatriates for bringing them into the country from COVID-19-affected nations.

He demanded that the central government fly in the poor and vulnerable free of cost while charge the others with normal fares instead of high costs.

"The central government's decision to impose excessive costs on NRIs flying in special flights from the Covid-affected countries is an inhumane act," he said in a statement.

Venugopal said it was due to protests by a large number of expatriates and their relatives as well as the general public over the past few days that the central government took the decision to bring back Indian citizens from abroad.

"However, it is cruel that the Central government has taken advantage of this plight of expatriates by increasing the price of air fares up to three times. This is inhumane," Venugopal said in his statement.

He urged the Centre to take urgent steps to provide free travel to the most vulnerable, unemployed, sick and pregnant women and to others on normal fare.

Air India will operate 64 repatriation flights for a week from May 7 while the Navy deployed two ships as India rolled out a massive evacuation plan on Tuesday to bring back thousands of its nationals stranded abroad due to the coronavirus-triggered lockdown.

Those availing the repatriation flights will be charged, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri told a virtual press conference in New Delhi. A passenger on a London-Delhi flight will be charged Rs 50,000 and on a Dhaka-Delhi flight Rs 12,000, he added.

From the Gulf countries to Malaysia and the UK to the US, the multi-agency operation christened 'Vande Bharat Mission' will see the state-owned airline operate the non-scheduled commercial flights till May 13 to ferry around 15,000 Indian nationals from 12 countries.

Mumbai, Jun 26: In a humanitarian gesture, a mosque in Bhiwandi town of adjoining Thane district has been converted by its administrators into a temporary COVID-19 facility, where oxygen is provided free of cost to patients.

The facility at Makkah Masjid in the Shanti Nagar area of the powerloom town has been set up by the local chapter of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Movement for Peace and Justice and the Shanti Nagar Trust, which runs the mosque.

Apart from putting up five beds equipped with oxygen cylinders, the JIH also delivers them for free to patients homes if required, an office-bearer of the JIH said, adding the makeshift facility is open to all communities.

So far, the Bhiwandi-Nizampur municipality has recorded over 1,332 COVID-19 cases and 88 casualties. It has a mortality rate of 5.26 per cent, a release stated.

"Bhiwandi-Nizampur has been hit hard by the pandemic as it is a congested city. It doesn't even have proper health infrastructure.

"The situation has only worsened during the pandemic as general medical practitioners have shut their clinics fearing the virus spread," said Ausaf Ahmed Falahi, president of the JIH's Bhiwandi chapter.

As a majority of people here lack awareness about the viral disease and are unable to afford treatment, a facility like this one was the need of the hour, he said.

Over 70 persons have benefited from this facility, which has two doctors, while 15 oxygen cylinders have been delivered to the homes of eight COVID-19 patients, Falahi said.

People irrespective of their religion have been availing treatment at the mosque, he added.

"Makkah Masjid has been shut for prayers since the lockdown. So, we decided to use a part of the premises to help those who can't avail treatment elsewhere," said Qaiser Mirza of the Shanti Nagar Trust.
