Hindutva activist, notorious rowdy Akashbhavan Sharan arrested for raping minor

Mangaluru, Apr 4: Notorious rowdy sheeter Akashbhavan Sharan, who is also a hardline Hindutva activist, has been arrested the CCB police in connection with the illegal confinement and rape of a minor girl.

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil today confirmed the arrest of Sharan, who was already facing one and a half dozen other cases including murder and extortion.

Sharan was an active member of Hindu Jagarana Vedike. Gradually the outfit distanced itself from him as he shot to notoriety. However, he continued to identify himself as a Hindutva activist.

He is among the prime accused in the murders case such as Bejai Raja, Pradeep Mendon and Sullia based KVG Institutions Manager Dr Ramakrishna.

Three months ago, Sharan had sexually assaulted a minor who had come to him in order to learn the Tiger dance. When the victim and her family approached the police, he had gone absconding.

Bengaluru, Jul 17: The Doctors at Fortis Hospital, here on Friday, successfully treated a 97-year-old patient who suffered an embolic stroke due to calcified stenosis (narrowing of an artery resulting in restriction of blood flow).

In a release, the Hospital authorities stated that the team of doctors led by Dr Rajpal Singh, Director and Interventional Cardiologist, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore successfully conducted Carotid Artery Stenting (CAS) to increase the blood flow in the blocked areas which had resulted in stroke following stringent safety protocols and ensuring proper segregation of COVID and Non-COVID patients at the hospital.

Carotid arteries serve as the main channels which supply the blood flow to the brain and facial structures. Any significant narrowing in these arteries can cause a brain stroke, a mini-stroke, headache, and neurological symptoms.

Bengaluru,  Aug 1: As many as 5,172 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Saturday, taking the state's count of coronavirus cases to 1,29,287.

The active cases in the state now stand at 73,219 while 53,648 people have been discharged.

"5,172 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 1,29,287 including 53,648 discharges and 2,412 deaths. The number of active cases stands at 73,219," said State Health Department.

So far, a total of 2,412 people have died in the state.

India, on Saturday, reported 57,117 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's coronavirus tally to 16,95,988, said the Union Health Ministry.

Mangaluru, June 29: Six more personnel from Ullal Police Station in Mangaluru taluk have tested positive for covid-19. 

With this, the total number of covid positive cops from the Ullal Police Station mounted to 10.

Official sources said that throat swabs of five police personnel and a Home Guard from Ullal today received positive report today. Earlier, four other cops were tested positive. 

In addition to the police personnel, two undertrials arrested by the Ullal police on the charges of murder attempt at Thokkottu Olapete too were tested positive for Covid-19 June 28.
