His body cut into 2, man makes organ donation wish

Bengaluru, Feb 17: A 26-year-old man’s body was ripped apart after he was run over by a lorry at Thippegondanahalli near Nelamangala (National Highway-4) on Tuesday morning.

harishAccording to police, the deceased has been identified Harish N (in pic) a resident of Gubbi in Tumakuru district who was working in a private company in Whitefield in the City. He had been to his village to cast his vote during the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat elections held recently.

Around 8.30 am, on Tuesday, while he was riding back to work, a lorry tried to overtake him and brushed past his motorcycle. Harish lost control over his vehicle and came under the lorry.

Critically injured, Harish was found lying on the road for more than 15 minutes pleading for help. Finally, a few youths alerted the police and the ambulance. As he was run over by a lorry, his body was cut into two. But Harish was still breathing and struggling for life. While they were putting him into an ambulance, the victim asked the police and the ambulance staff to donate his organs, according to the police.

The police shifted him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead minutes later. The public caught hold of the lorry driver, Varadaraj, and handed him over to the police. The lorry was seized and the driver arrested.

Mangaluru, Jul 3: A middle aged man killed his wife by pushing her down a stone quarry at Karambaru near Kavoor on the outskirts of the city today.

The victim has been identified as Shanta, aged around 35 years. The accused is her husband Ganesh, aged round 45 years.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The exact reason for the crime is yet to be known. It is learnt that the husband and wife had quarreled before the murder.

A native of Hassan, Ganesh was working as a tipper driver. Shanta hailed from Salethadka in Kasargod. They couple have a son and a daughter. The family stays in a rented house at Kavoor.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa thanked his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan for initiating action against those dumping bio-medical and bio-wastes in Karnataka's districts from neighboring state Kerala.

In a statement, he said, "First I would like to thank Kerala Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan for his prompt reaction and response to initiate legal action against the dumpers of bio-medical and bio-waste in our districts neighboring Kerala."

The Karnataka Chief Minister has taken a serious note of the reports in a section of media on alleged dumping of bio-medical waste and bio-waste by people from Kerala in bordering Mysuru, Kodagu and Chamarajnagar districts.

"I have directed deputy commissioners of concerned districts, environment department, and pollution control board to take stock of the situation and check surreptitious activities of individuals and agencies from Kerala who are indulging in this illegal activity. I have also directed the officials to prevent the use of this bio-medical waste by Jaggery units as fuel," Yediyurappa said.

He assured that soon this activity will be checked and ended.

Bengaluru, Mar 23: Film producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur V K Mohan committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel in the city on Monday, police said.

Mohan, who hailed from Kundapur Taluk, Udupi District, was a famous film producer and hotelier.

According to police, Mohan arrived at the hotel on Sunday night and when he did not open the door of his room on Monday, hotel staffs, grew suspicious and peeped through the room window, found him hanging.
