Mangaluru, Dec 20: In an apparent case of hit and run, a school teacher lost his life when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down during a morning walk on Wednesday at Guruvayanakere in Belthangady taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Dinakara Hegde (45), a resident of Guruvayanakere, who worked as a teacher at a government school.
A case has been registered at Belthangady police station. Body has been sent for post-mortem.

Joining Abu Dhabi in the top ten are Taipei, Quebec, Zurich, Dubai, Munich, Eskisehir, and Bern. Islamabad (74) was ranked the safest in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Caracas in Venezuela was rated the as the most unsafe city with the highest crime index 84.90.

Mangaluru, May 9: Dakshina Kannada District Collector Sindhu B Roopesh on Friday held a meeting to discuss the precautionary measures to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the current situation in the district.
The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament and Karnakata BJP unit chief Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister-in-charge of Dakshina Kannada Kota Srinivasa Poojary, MLA Vedavas Kamath and District Medical Officer Dr Ramachandra Bauri among others were present there.
Top officials of the police department, labour department officials and other concerned persons were also present in the meeting.
