Mangaluru, Dec 20: In an apparent case of hit and run, a school teacher lost his life when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down during a morning walk on Wednesday at Guruvayanakere in Belthangady taluk.
The deceased has been identified as Dinakara Hegde (45), a resident of Guruvayanakere, who worked as a teacher at a government school.
A case has been registered at Belthangady police station. Body has been sent for post-mortem.
Bengaluru, Apr 22: With seven more people tested positive for COVID-19, the total number of cases now stands at 425 as of date in Karnataka, informed state health department on Wednesday.
Out of the total COVID-19 cases, 17 people have died and 129 have been discharged.
These seven new cases came to light in the last 24 hours.
With 1383 more cases and 50 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, India's total number of positive COVID-19 cases stands at 19,984, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.
Bengaluru, Apr 18: With 12 fresh cases of the COVID-19 infection, including one woman, the total number of novel coronavirus cases in Karnataka surged to 371 on Saturday.
The sources said that as many as three new positive cases were reported from Mysuru district, followed by two each from Kalaburagi, Bhagalkote, one each case from Vijayapura, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag and Mandya, districts on Saturday.
Puttur, June 10: Passengers of a KSRTC bus had a miraculous escape while driver and conductor suffered minor injuries after it fell on a house below 25ft.
Police said that except for some minor injuries to the driver and conductor none of the 21 passengers were hurt.
The bus was bound for Ishwaramangala from Puttur when the mishap took place as the driver lost control over the steering.
The roof and walls of the house on which the bus fell was partially damaged.
