Mangaluru, Jan 29: A tense atmosphere prevailed at the Gou Yatra Mahamangala venue at Kuloor in the city on Sunday when a few saints participating in the mega convention noticed asuspicious' package near the stage.

1cowdungThe three-day grand finale (Mahamangala) of the 82-day-long Mangala Gou Yatra organised under the aegis of Sri Ramachandrapura Math was held at a 70 acre land abutting NH 66 at Kuloor from Jan 27 to 29. The event saw more than 1500 saints adorn a 300 feet long 150 feet wide main stage.

The bizarre incident took place on the third day of the convention. According to sources, some of the participants expressed suspicion about an abandoned package near the stage. This triggered panic among all the participants.

Police and bomb disposal experts rushed to the spot and took the suspicious package away from the stage and kept it on an open space. Interestingly, when they opened it carefully, they found two separate packets of cow dung and cow urine in it.

It is worth mentioning here that a section of Hindus in India consider cow dung and cow urine to be most auspicious and holy and some of them drink cow urine with great reverence.
