The 15-year-old boy who reportedly confessed to police that he had killed his mother and sister at their house in Noida recently was addicted to a violent gangster game played on mobile phones.

Anjali Agarwal (42) and her 12-year-old daughter, Kanika, were found beaten and stabbed to death at their residence on the night of December 4; the boy was reported missing since that day. He was caught in Varanasi and brought back to Noida on December 8, where he confessed to police.

The police said that the boy’s father, a businessman, told them that his son spent most of his time playing the game. He told them that the boy had been seen playing the game on his mother’s phone over the last two months after he had seized the boy’s phone in September.

The statement was made by the businessman on Thursday during police questioning. Ajay Kumar Sharma, investigating officer of Noida police, said, “The boy’s father told us that he used to play the game — High School Gangster Escape — most of the time on his phone. He also told us that the boy was not at all interested in studies.”

The investigator also said that the father had enquired his son about the game, who told him that it was a crime-thriller game and he liked it.

“The father is indicating that the game might have influenced him. We have read about the game’s features, which suggest it is about committing crimes and escaping. There are chances that he may commit more such crimes, under the influence of the game,” Sharma said.

The content rating of Google Play for this game, High School Gangster Escape, is 16+ and contains strong violence.

Really sad. Kids shud be monitored by parents. Technology sucks in every minute. too much technology in life is too bad. Google play is also not safe when it comes for purchasing anything on bank cards. its better to buy apple products, so that u can track ur kids through your Iphone too. Google needs to build up security measures for the Apps in the store. Every next person creates app & nobody is bothered to check on the same. There are so many junk apps too in google play.

Belagavi, Feb 24: Almost a month after a soldier was reported missing following a trip to Gokak's Godchinamalaki falls, his wife and her lover - who was her car driver - were arrested in Belagavi for his murder.

Police said the accused, Prashant Patil, and two friends tried to throw Deepak Pattanadara, 32, off a cliff after slitting his throat. Deepak's wife, Anjali, had registered a missing case with police on February 4, saying her husband had gone on a trip with friends on January 28 and hadn't returned.

In a twist, Deepak's elder brother lodged a complaint at the same police station, alleging that Anjali was behind the disappearance.

Anjali and Prashant, both 26, were arrested on Saturday while Prashant's two friends are absconding. Deepak's decomposed body has been recovered.

Deepak, who was posted in Delhi and was on the verge of retirement after 14 years in the army, had suspected his wife's alleged affair, police said. He'd bought a car for Anjali in 2019, and since he was home only twice a year, he hired Prashant as the driver. Anjali and Prashant grew close but when Deepak asked Anjali about the affair, she denied it outright.

When Deepak came home during vacation, the duo planned to eliminate him, police said.

New Delhi, Mar 19: Senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes on Wednesday extolled the virtues of 'gaumutra' and shared an anecdote about a man claiming to have cured his cancer by drinking cow urine to drive his point home.

Participating in a debate in Rajya Sabha on two bills for setting up national commissions for homoeopathy and Indian systems of medicine, the former Union minister said, "My extreme friend Jairam Ramesh pulls my leg, when I talk of 'gaumutra'."

Sharing an anecdote, Fernandes said once during a visit to an ashram near Meerut he had met a person who claimed to have cured his cancer by drinking 'gaumutra'.

Many BJP leaders have earlier spoken about the healing power of 'gaumutra'. The Congress has reacted sharply to such remarks.

He also praised the virtues of the Indian systems of medicine. He said when he had severe pain in knee joint and doctors had suggested for replacement surgery. However, he refused and started doing 'Vajrasana'.

"I started Vajrasana, practising yoga, and today I am able to do wrestling without any difficulty," the septuagenarian leader said.

"When (former) prime minister (Atal Bihari) Vajypee ji had a knee surgery, I thought if I had known him earlier, I would have definitely gone to him and ask him to follow 'Vajrasan' and it could have been cured," he said.

He also claimed to have met a person in US aged around 104 years and moving swiftly as a young man.

"Yoga is our wealth. If you practise yoga, may be our budget cost of health can be reduced by 50 per cent. It's way of life," he said.

"Our own Indian systems of medicine will provide a lot of reliefs even before going to a doctor," he said.

Though Fernandes supported the bills but raised objection over the exclusion of yoga and naturopathy.

"I would urge the minister either to amend the bill or bring an assurance that it will bring a separate legislation to cover yoga and naturopathy," he said.

Mangaluru, May 7: The Dakshina Kannada District Muslim Okkoota has strongly condemned permit for opening of textile and footwear shops across the district at a time when the number of Covid-19 positive cases are on the rise.

In a press note here on Thursday, former Mayor and Okoota President Ashraf alleged that the permission to open the shops at a time when Eid-ul-Fitr was nearing would lead to rush in the shops in turn bringing in fear of spread of Covid-19.

He expressed his resentment over the fact that the administration has neglected the appeal made by the Okkoota as well as the Qazi of Udupi against permitting textile shops during the lockdown period.

He warned that the administration, district in-charge Minister, MLA and MP themselves will be responsible in case of increased infection cases due to this decision.

The district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary yesterday had announced that textile shops in the district can be opened from May 7.
