Hundreds of cows are being stolen everyday; cops punishing cow protectors: Shobha

Bengaluru, Jul 1: Karnataka BJP general secretary and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has held chief minister H D Kumaraswamy-led state government for the continued theft of cows in different parts of the state.

"Every day hundreds of cow theft cases are being reported from across the state, especially Bengaluru, Udupi and Chikkmagaluru districts. Anti-social elements, armed with lethal weapons, are taking away cattle from villages in Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts. Cows belonging to Udupi Krishna temple are being stolen. The police have, however, remained mute spectators," she told reporters here.

Though the Centre amended the Motor Vehicles Act in 2015, banning transportation of cattle in goods vehicles, the rules are being violated blatantly.

"Cattle are being transported in small vehicles by concealing them in gunny bags. “It’s the most inhuman thing (cattle transportation). Strangely, the police book cases against those who try to protect these animals and the actual culprits are getting protection,” she charged.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy projects himself as a god-fearing person. But he appears least bothered about cow protection. “He should stop all drama and take measures to protect cattle,” she said. Shobha advised the government to set up special squads to protect cattle.

Dear Shobakka, you shgould agitate to know who are the real cow thieves and where are they supplying these.  I am 100 percent sure that 99 percent of these thieves are from sangh parivar and they transport the cows to Gujrat beef exporters owned by sanghis.   Shoba is trying to fool us and divert the issue.   She also knows the fact but doing drama.  She is following her boss in this practice.    Why dont you urgent in parliament to stop beef export and declare cow as national animal?   Why bjp is not interesting is doing so and doing drama on cow.   For them cow is sacred and should not be consumed by poor people in india and not sacred for exporting beef out of the country.    does Shoba also has any beef exporting factory in Gujarat?   May be yes.

Jan 28: Hindu temple processions with an elephant adorned in ornaments carrying the idol, with percussionists and devotees walking side by side, are no new sight in Kerala. However, a similar procession in Kerala's cultural capital, Thrissur, turned heads. Hundreds of Muslims were seen holding hands and clearing traffic to help the procession move smoothly.

Muslims made way for the passage of a Hindu temple procession during their protest against Citizenship Amendment Act(ACT) in Thrissur on Saturday, January 25.

Various Muslim organisations had organised a mass protest in the Swaraj ground in the town. On the same day, the local Bhaktapriyam temple's procession was also taking place. Stuck in a dilemma, the temple authorities approached the police and the Muslim organisations to find a solution. The Muslim organisations then promised to help proceed the temple procession without any obstacles.

Nearly a thousand people who had turned up for the protest volunteered to clear traffic and control the crowd so that the temple procession could smoothly pass through the town.

A video of the procession was shared on Facebook by the Thrissur City Police on Saturday, which showed Muslims holding hands on either side of the procession to make way.

"Humanity is bigger than religion. That's the lesson the residents of Thrissur are giving to the country. Thrissur is truly the cultural capital of Kerala," read the caption of the post in Malayalam. The video soon went viral and was viewed by over 36k views.

Bengaluru, May 11: As many as 343 Indians returned to Bengaluru from London by a special Air India flight on the fifth day of 'Vande Bharat Mission' on Monday. They arrived at the Kempegowda international airport at 4.40 am.

All passengers were found to be asymptomatic on arrival except one 27-year-old woman who had had an incomplete abortion and had vomiting on arrival. She has been shifted to KC General Hospital in Malleshwaram.

Dr Prabhu Dev Gowda, an officer on duty for COVID-19 screening at Kempegowda International Airport, said, "A 27-year-old woman has had an incomplete abortion of her three-month-old foetus before taking the flight from London. She was vomiting on arrival. She was shifted to Aster CMI Hospital for emergency care.”

“Thereafter, she and her husband were shifted to KC General Hospital in Malleshwaram. They will be in isolation there. Since there is nobody to look after her, we have to let the husband accompany her to the hospital where they will be in quarantine."

The patient was famished and was provided a few idlis on arrival, he added.

After she recovers at the hospital, the couple will be shifted to a hotel. As per protocol, their throat swabs were taken for COVID-19 testing too. All passengers whether symptomatic or not are being tested for COVID-19.

Dr Manjula Devi, District Health Officer, Bengaluru Rural district said that all passengers were found to be asymptomatic on arrival except this woman who is being treated as a non-COVID-19 emergency.

Ajith Rai, Devanahalli Tehsildar told DH, "All passengers have chosen to go to hotels over government hostels. We're yet to tabulate how many have chosen budget hotels, three-star and five-star hotels. Twenty of them are still here. The process is on."
