Husband 'abuses' SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, wife loses Lok Sabha ticket

Mulayam_Singh_YadavLucknow, Mar 8: Samajwadi Party's Agra candidate Sarika Singh Baghel was stripped of the party ticket because of her husband Devendra Baghel's undoing. In a video grab with a local news channel, Devendra was seen using unsavoury words against none other that the SP chief. Expectedly, the clipping reached the party headquarters and Sarika lost her ticket. Devendra was sacked from the party.

The clipping shows that referring to SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Devendra says: "Agar Budhdhe ko pradhan mantri banana hai to chalwa do, warna matti kharaab ho jayegi tumhari" (If the old man (Mulayam) is to become the prime minister, allow the auto's through the no entry route else you will land in trouble). Though uttered in a fit of rage, these words of Baghel have cost him and his wife dear. Sarika has now been replaced by Maharaj Singh Dhanghar as its official candidate.

Known for giving a damn to the law of the land, Devendra has made headlines for all the wrong reasons for the past six months. He was accused of grabbing a house and influencing the Agra police to let off crooks. But what eventually proved the last straw for him was his heated exchange with an officer of the police recently.

Reports said Dewendra was miffed over the No Entry restriction for auto-rickshaws on MG Road and wanted the Agra police to lift this ban ever since the local auto rickshaw operator's union approached him with this demand. After his repeated telephonic requests to senior police officers failed to yield results, Dewendra reached the office of SP traffic Ashok Tripathi to seek a clarification on non-compliance of his "requests". Allegations are that when the police officer refused to entertain his demand of lifting the no entry restrictions, Dewendra lost his cool.

In a fit of rage he allegedly threatened to get the officer stripped of his uniform for his audacity to say no to him. When the officer asked him to mind his language, all hell broke loose. A fuming Dewendra then went on to threaten the officer saying that he would talk to chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on the issue. When the officer explained that it would be illegal to allow autos through No Entry, Dewendra yelled: "The old man will have to listen to us if he wants to become the prime minister. He will have to meet our demands, legitimate or otherwise."

Mumbai, Jul 1: Mumbai police on Wednesday imposed section 144 of CrPC prohibiting the movement of people in public places and gatherings, to prevent the spread of Covid-19, an official said.

The prohibitory order, issued by a senior police official, says restrictions on the movement of residents for non- essential work will remain in force till July 15.

The order prohibits "presence or movement of one or more persons in public places or gathering of any sort", the official said.

New Delhi, Jul 20: Alleging that 2,426 companies have "looted" people's savings to the tune of Rs 1.47 lakh crore from banks, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has asked if the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government will conduct a probe into it to punish those guilty.

"2,426 companies looted 1.47 lakh crore rupees of people's savings from banks. Will this government investigate this loot and punish the culprits?" Gandhi said on Twitter, without elaborating.

"Or will it allow them to flee like Nirav and Lalit Modi?" he asked.

Gandhi's attack came after media reports claimed that the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) had released a list of 2,426 borrower accounts that have been categorised as “wilful defaulters” with dues amounting to Rs 1,47,350 crore to the banking system.

New Delhi, May 24: Overwhelmed by the donations that poured in from the society for his help, Phool Mia, the fruit seller in north Delhi's Jagatpuri area whose mangoes were looted by the ordinary people, said that those who helped him have made his "Eid" and have shown that "humanity is still alive".

Video footage that went viral on social media, shows that scores of passers-by looted the unattended crates of mangoes of a fruit seller after a fight broke out in the neighbourhood. The incident took place on Wednesday.

"My stock of mangoes worth Rs 30,000 was kept there. Some persons were fighting with each other fearing which I left the place to avoid any sort of altercation. When I returned, I saw that they were looting the mangoes kept there. There were 50-100 people who were involved in this act," Phool Mia, narrated the ordeal.

"A video got viral about the incident after which people donated to me on a portal. They empathised with me when I was ruined. I thank the media and all those people who have donated from the bottom of my heart as they made my Eid. Now, I would be able to celebrate Eid with my children. This shows humanity is still alive," he added.

However, four people have been arrested on the basis of video footage, Delhi Police said.
