Mysuru, Sept 7: BJP leader and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has sought police protection following an alleged threat to his life from a Twitter user.
In a letter to the Mysuru City Police Commissioner, Mr. Simha said a Twitter user by name Ananthamurthy B had given death threat to him following journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder.
Mr. Simha has asked the police to arrest the Twitter user and take necessary action.
Mangaluru, Jul 12: Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
He was suffering from fever since the last few days and today his swab results came out positive.
He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city and his condition is stated to be stable.
Davanagere, Apr 26: Amid the national lockdown imposed by the Centre to check the spread of coronavirus, social distancing norms were flouted as BJP MLA from Honnali -- MP Renukacharya -- held a meeting of ASHA workers on Thursday.
The workers were present in large numbers and no distance of at least one metre between the workers was maintained during the meeting.
However, the workers were seen wearing masks at the meeting but violating the norms of social distancing.
Social distancing is one of the measures that can help people avoid contracting the highly contagious coronavirus.
According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka has a total of 489 positive COVID-19 cases of which, 153 patients have recovered and 18 patients have died due to the deadly virus.
Mangaluru, Jan 24: The Srushti Kala Vidyalaya will be conferring it's 'Srushti Kalabhushan Award' to ace Yakshagana Bhagvatha Patla Sathish Shetty.
The award ceremony will be held at RV Dental College and Hospital in JP Nagar, Bengaluru on February 2, as part of the decennial celebrations of the Vidyalaya.
Chayapathi Kanchibail, founder of the Vidyalaya, said, "The award is being given to Shetty for his services to promote the art of Yakshagana and for his welfare work through the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation."
