Mysuru, Sept 7: BJP leader and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha has sought police protection following an alleged threat to his life from a Twitter user.
In a letter to the Mysuru City Police Commissioner, Mr. Simha said a Twitter user by name Ananthamurthy B had given death threat to him following journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder.
Mr. Simha has asked the police to arrest the Twitter user and take necessary action.
Mangaluru, Feb 13: The Customs Officers of Airport Team-II at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) on Thursday intercepted a passenger who attempted to smuggle gold worth Rs 9.39 lakhs.
The team led by Rajesh Poojary nabbed the passenger who attempted to smuggle 233.18 grams of gold strips concealed inside a rechargeable emergency light and solar sensor wall light.
The officials said a passenger named Mohammed Mahir Patla (24) from Kasaragod, who arrived from Dubai yesterday evening by Air India flight number IX384 attempted to smuggle the gold.
Bengaluru, May 1: Former underworld don and real-estate baron Muthappa Rai was admitted to Manipal hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday.
As per sources, Muttappa Rai’s condition is said to be serious.
Muthappa Rai was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago and had undergone treatment at hospitals in New Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru.
Udupi, Jul 15: Two doctors and four staff members of the Udupi District Hospital have been tested positive for coronavirus.
While one doctor is undergoing treatment at the designated covid hospital, the other one, who is said to be asymptomatic, is being treated at his residence.
After four staff members of the hospital tested covid positive, the throat swabs of their contacts including other staff of the hospital and family members were also sent for testing.
Meanwhile, a person who was undergoing treatment in the district hospital for some other ailment also tested covid positive triggering panic among other non-covid patients.
