I have a wife, don’t sleep with men... He may be interested: Karnataka Speaker

Kolar, Mar 22: Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar has said that he "doesn't sleep with men" and has a legal wife.

His comment came after Congress leader KH Muniyappa's last month opined that his relationship with Kumar was like that of "a husband and wife".

"I don’t sleep with men. I have a legal wife. So, he (KH Muniyappa) may be interested but I am not", Kumar said reacting to the month-old statement.

On February 15, KH Muniyappa had said, "Ramesh Kumar and I are like husband and wife and we don’t have any issue (over LS tickets) and quarrelling is common to us."

According to sources, Muniyappa made the comment after Kumar expressed dissent over the former getting a Lok Sabha ticket.

The LS polls in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23 with 14 constituencies going to the polls in each phase. Counting of votes will be done on May 23.

Mangaluru, Jun 17: A private flight chartered by UAE-based NRI hotelier Praveen Shetty has brought home around 175 people from United Arab Emirates.

This is the third flight chartered by Mr Shetty, chairman of the Fortune Group of Hotels, and president of the Karnataka Non-Resident Indian Forum, to repatriate his employees and other stranded Kannadigas.

The Air Arabia flight with 168 adult passengers and six infants on board took off from Sharjah International Airport at 9:45 pm (UAE time) on June 16 and landed at Mangaluru International Airport at 2:50 am Indian Standard Time on June 17.

Bengaluru, Mar 27: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Friday formed a task force to monitor the spread of COVID-19 disease in the state and provide guidelines and suggestions to contain its proliferation in the state.

In a press release, the KPCC has stated that the 15 member committee will be headed by the senior Congress leader and former Health minister K R Rameshkumar also included two other former health ministers, Shivanand Patil and U T Khader as the members of the committee.

Bengaluru, May 4: Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that the health of the migrants who have been allowed to move, should not be jeopardized and appropriate tests must be conducted.

"The task was to send the workers to their places. However, their health should not be jeopardized. This decision made for their benefit should not be a travesty for them. There will also be physical interference on the buses and appropriate tests must be done," said Kumaraswamy.

"The lockdown, which was implemented without any prerequisites, is now loosened without warning. The state government, which has allowed migrant workers to move to the city, has mobilized large numbers of people. By this, the government is playing with their health," he added.

He continued saying that the government should not lose out on an unscientific move that resulted in the loss of thousands of crores of rupees from a custodial lockdown.

"Workers and villages must be sober. The government must take all necessary precautions in this regard," he added.
