February 22, 2016

Pune, Feb 22: DSK Shivajians FC and Shillong Lajong FC played out a 1-1 draw in an I-League match at the Balewadi Stadium here on Sunday.

Shivajians

Uilliams Bomfin opened the scoring for Lajong in the second minute itself, which was followed by DSK's Asier Dipanda netting the equaliser in the 60th minute to have both teams share points from the outing.

With the draw, DSK remain at the bottom of the table with 5 points from eight games, while Lajong climbed one place to the fifth spot with 10 points from eight games.

Just two minutes into play, the visitors got off to a flying start by taking the lead via Bomfin. Penn Orji's neat pass through the defence found Uilliams unmarked in the box. The Brazilian held off the defender, Amiri, and placed the ball past a diving goalkeeper Subrata Pal, into the lower left corner.

From there on, the visitors held on not to allow the home team score an equaliser.

On the other hand, DSK got a couple of chances in the first half but failed to make the most of it.

Both sides went into the break with the scoreline in favour of Lajong.

But coming into the second half, the hosts showed the initiative to search for their first goal and the much needed equaliser.

Some good run by the forward line helped them come close a couple of times.

Eventually, the home fans could cheer loud as Dipanda made it 1-1 in the 60th minute of play.

The debutant team's Juan Quero sent a good cross from the left which was met with a great run by the Cameroonian, who at last bolted it in the goal.

From there on, both teams held on to not allow their opponent to get the second goal of the night as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Shillong Lajong will next host DSK Shivajians in a return leg match on February 26.
