I stand with the last person in line; want to erase hatred and fear: Rahul

New Delhi, Jul 17: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said he stands with the persecuted and seeks to erase “hatred and fear”, breaking his silence on the controversy following a reported remark on the Congress being a “party for Muslims”.

The Congress has dismissed the report in an Urdu daily as a “rumour” and asserted that it was a party of 132 crore Indians.

”I stand with the last person in the line. The exploited, marginalised and the persecuted. Their religion, caste or beliefs matter little to me,” Gandhi said on Twitter.

”I seek out those in pain and embrace them. I erase hatred and fear. I love all living beings. I am the Congress,” he said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have been sparring after the Urdu daily reported that Rahul Gandhi, who met Muslim intellectuals earlier last week, had told them that the Congress was a party for Muslims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while delivering a speech in Azamgarh over the weekend, raised the issue, saying: “I read in the newspaper that the Congress president had said that Congress is a party of Muslims, and there has been discussion on this for the past two days.”

”I am not surprised as when Manmohan Singh was PM, he had said that Muslims have the first right over natural resources,” he had said.

Hyderabad, Feb 28: The Cyber Crime Police of Hyderabad has registered an FIR against social media platforms- WhatsApp, Twitter and TikTok- for allowing people to spread anti-national activities, as per a complaint filed by one S Srishailam.

Raghuveer, Additional DCP Cyber Crimes said," We have received a court referred complaint, which was filed by S Srisailam in the concerned court stating that social media platforms Whatsapp, Twitter and TikTok are allowing few people to spread anti-national activities and videos."

S Srisailam also claimed that a few people are running a campaign against the CAA on social media platforms to spread hatred which in turn is causing damage to national integrity.

"In this regard, because the complaint was referred by a court a case has been registered against Whatsapp, Twitter & TikTok under the relevant section of Indian Penal Code and IT Act and took up the investigation," the DCP added.

He also added that the police cannot take action against these platforms as they are not banned in India but can initiate action against persons who intentionally indulge in spreading hatred.

"The police are conducting the investigation and if allegations of the complainant are found to be false then we will drop the case. We had received the case one week ago," informed the DCP.

Raipur, Mar 13: Calling Jyotiraditya Scindia a "power-hungry" leader, Chhattisgarh Minister and Congress leader TS Singh Deo on Friday said that if someone joins another party to occupy the top position of the state that he should never become a Chief Minister.

When enquired if Deo has any plans to join the BJP in the future, he quickly said that he would never be able to relate himself with the "ideology" of the party.

"People may make claims but I will never join BJP, even if I get 100 lives I will never associate with that ideology. A person who joins BJP for not being able to become Chief Minister should never become a Chief Minister," he said while speaking to media in Raipur.

"A single person does not remain as captain forever, Kapil Dev got his chance when Gavaskar was there. Currently, Virat Kohli is the captain but in T20 there are different captains. Will Kohli join Pakistan's team if he is not made the captain? This is beyond understanding."

On Wednesday, Scindia joined BJP in New Delhi in the presence of party President JP Nadda. He had resigned from Congress a day earlier after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He will file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections on March 13.
