I took drugs to talk to girls: Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt

December 21, 2016

Mumbai, Dec 21: Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt recently divulged some never before known facts about his drug addiction - why he started taking drugs and how he once smuggled it on a flight in his shoes.

DuttOn a recent visit to India's capital Delhi, Dutt spoke about his upcoming biopic and how drugs nearly killed him.

The actor said that it is important to understand that it is an illness and requires treatment, media reported.

"I was already on drugs when my mother was being treated for cancer. Rocky (his debut film) was being made and I remember that I was so addicted that once I travelled with 1kg heroine hidden in my shoes. My two sisters were also with me on the same flight. At that time, checking at airports was not so strict. Today , when I think about the incident, I get scared. I didn't worry about getting caught but what about my sisters? Drugs do this to you. You don't care about family or anything else."

Talking about his wake up call, where he realised that he desperately needed help, the hunky star recounted:

"One day, I came home high, had alcohol and went to sleep. When I woke up, I asked the house help to get me something to eat and he told me that I had been asleep for two days! I looked at myself in the mirror and felt I was 100% about to die. That was when I asked my father for help."

But why did the actor started doing drugs?

"Because I had difficulty talking to girls...

"Somebody told me that if you try this, you will be able to talk to women, so I tried and it worked. What I want to tell youngsters today is that I have gone through a lot because of substance abuse. It is better to be high on life than on any substance. Do good work and get appreciated, there is no better high than that in life."

Talking about being charged for illegal possession of firearms, the 57-year-old explained, "I love guns and I love hunting. I got into trouble for having a gun and at that time, there were riots going on. One of my producers asked me if I wanted a gun. I asked which gun? And he said AK-56. I thought I would take it to Khandala. I kept it in the car dicky and forgot about it and went to Mauritius. When Priya called me, asking about it, I told a friend to get rid of it. He got rid of it, but the poor guy is still in jail."

Commenting on his Raju Hirani directed biopic, Dutt said he was flattered that someone of Hirani's caliber was interested in making a film on his life. He took a shot at Ranbir Kapoor, who is essaying the role of the legend, saying how he was finding it difficult to portray him and keeps requesting Dutt to spend days and weeks with him.

"I can't spend more than half an hour with anybody. I have been trying to avoid him, it is a difficult role for him to play. He is a fine actor though."

Mumbai,  Aug 7: Unless Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, it would be illegal, affecting the federal structure of the country, said actor Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police in connection with the case, he added.

"The Bihar Government transferred a case with which it had no jurisdiction to investigate, to CBI instead of the Mumbai Police which is the legal position. The Supreme Court is seized of the issue pursuant to the transfer petition filed by Rhea Chakraborty," said Satish Maneshinde Chakraborty's lawyer.

The Supreme Court has directed all parties to file their replies and Mumbai Police is directed to place the report of investigations, he added.

"Pending the said proceedings the CBI has registered and continued the illegality which was perpetrated at the hands of Bihar Police.

CBI being a premier investigative agency in the country should desist from taking any further steps pending the SC proceedings. Apart from the same unless the Maharashtra Government consents to CBI investigating the case ... it would be totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the Federal Structure of the Nation," said Maneshinde.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI that is probing high profile cases of Vijay Mallya and AgustaWestland cases will now investigate the Sushant Singh Rajput's death case.

The investigating agency has registered a case against six accused including Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the Rajput's death.

The sources in CBI said that six accused in the case will be summoned soon for questioning and other persons will also be called for examining which was earlier examined by Mumbai police.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier sent a recommendation to the Central Government for CBI investigation in the case filed in Patna based on the complaint of Sushant's father KK Singh against Rhea Chakraborty under sections including abetment of suicide on July 25.

Sushant was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.

Days after Rajput's death, Rhea Chakraborty said she was the "girlfriend" of the 'Dil Bechara' actor while requesting a CBI inquiry in the case.

Chakraborty has also approached the Supreme Court for transfer of investigation to Mumbai in the FIR registered against her in Patna.

New Delhi, Feb 25: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday gave time to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to seek instructions on travel ban imposed on comedian Kunal Kamra.

Kamra approached the court against IndiGo which suspended him from flying with the airlines for a period of six months. Other airlines had also followed the suit in pursuance to this.

Justice Naveen Chawla said that the regulatory body should not have certified actions of airlines other than IndiGo to ban Kamra without conducting inquiry. The matter will now be heard on February 27.

Last month, IndiGo had barred the stand-up comedian for six months from using its services for allegedly portraying "unacceptable behaviour" onboard its flight.

The airline claimed that Kamra, while travelling on a Mumbai-Lucknow IndiGo flight, provoked a TV news anchor by asking questions over his news presentation style.

Chennai, Mar 12: Superstar Rajinikanth on Thursday clarified that he never aspired to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and said his plans for politics include different heads for his prospective party and a possible government headed by it.

In his first official press conference since December 31, 2017, when he announced to take the political plunge, the veteran star also said he planned to appoint as CM, an educated youth who was compassionate and had self-respect.

With a two-leadership system for party and the government, the former would act as an "opposition" to highlight issues and would not even hesitate to "remove", apparently the head of the government, if it fails to perform, he said.

His prospective party would focus on including a substantial amount of youngsters in the age group of below 45 years while the rest would comprise retired judges and IAS and IPS officials among others.

"I myself would reach out to them and invite them," to join him, the 69-year-old actor said.

Contrary to expectations, he however, did not make a concrete statement on floating his party but called for an "uprising" by youth, after which he would make his formal political entry.
