Mysuru, Oct 20: Disqualified MLA A H Vishwanath, has blamed leader of the Opposition in the Assembly for his resignation as an MLA.

“It has been projected that 17 MLAs were responsible for the collapse of the coalition government. But, greed for power by the leaders of both the parties was the real reason”.

Speaking at a programme here, Vishwanath said, “I had to come out of the Congress party due to the mental harassment meted out to me by Siddaramaiah”. Criticising Ramesh Kumar, who was the Speaker during the term of the coalition government, he said, the government suffocated to death due to his decision.

“I was made the scapegoat in the political slug-fest after the elections. I was assured ministership, but made scapegoat due to the conspiracy of Siddaramaiah and H D Kumaraswamy (former chief minister),” he said.

Tumkuru, Feb 26: A man was arrested from Azad Nagar area of Anantpur on Wednesday for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed and posting it on social media earlier this month, police said.

He was identified as Atul Kumar alias Madhugiri Modi, a resident of Madhugiri’s Hobali Honnapur village.

According to Superintendent of Police Vamshikrishna teams had been formed to arrest the accused following protests against his video and remarks against Prophet Mohammed in Tumkuru and Madhugiri,

Bengaluru, Aug 1:: Karnataka Minister BC Patil on Friday said that he has tested positive for Coronavirus.

"The report has confirmed me to be corona positive. I am in home quarantine at my residence in Bangalore," he said in a tweet.

"During a recent visit to Koppal district, five of the staff members who accompanied me were reported to be coronavirus positive," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,483 new COVID-19 cases and 84 deaths were reported in Karnataka, the state's health department informed on Friday.

Karnataka now has a total of 1,24,115 coronavirus cases, including 72,005 active cases and 49,788 discharges.

So far, 2,134 deaths have been reported from the state.

Bengaluru, Jun 16: Continuing easing of restrictions under 'unlock-1,' the Karnataka government has allowed shooting and production of films and television programmes in the state.

In a clarification, Principal Secretary Revenue N Manjunath Prasad said, shooting and production of all films and television programmes that were stopped in between due to lockdown can be allowed.

It is also allowed to continue with the post-production activities of film and television programmes after completing the shooting, it said.

The permission is conditional as it is subjected to adhering of the national directives issued in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, and standard operating procedures prescribed by the Department of Information and Public Relations.

The clarification said permission can be given as film and television shooting and production activities are not banned under guidelines issued by the centre and the state government recently.
