I will concentrate on state politics and contribute to third front: Deve Gowda

Udupi, March 13: Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda has announced to continue his political tirade against BJP and Congress alike till the next parliamentary elections and contribute to the development of the third front from the state.

Speaking to press persons here on Tuesday Mr Gowda said that both Congress and BJP are two faces of the same coin and both are self- centered. “I will not go to national politics again. I will concentrate in the state, build JD(S) and contribute to the third front”, he said.

He said that he had already toured 10 districts in the state to strengthen the party organisation and after a small break for campaigning in Udupi Chikmagalur elections he would tour another 20 district.

Replying another question Gowda said that he would not retire even after the next parliamentary election but continue to be in politics.

Both Congress and BJP would face the same fate as in the elections to the five states held recently, he added.

On the occasion Gowda inducted Manjula Prasad from Congress to JD(S).

Former MLA UR Sabhapathi, District JD(S) President Deviprasad Shetty and others were present.

State JD(S) President participated in the paadayathra and corner meetings in Kundapur assembly constituency to campaign for JD(S) candidate Bhojegowda.

Udupi, Apr 21:  Four walk-in sample collection units for COVID-19 test has been installed in the district, sources said on Monday.

The units have been installed at Udupi’s T M A Pai Hospital and district hospital and at Kundapura and Karkala taluk hospitals by Indian Medical Association, Udupi Branch along with Rotary Club and Red Cross Society.

Udupi district was declared COVID-19-free after all three COVID-19 positive patients were discharged after recovery and were now in home quarantine, the sources added.

Puttur, June 10: Passengers of a KSRTC bus had a miraculous escape while driver and conductor suffered minor injuries after it fell on a house below 25ft.

Police said that except for some minor injuries to the driver and conductor none of the 21 passengers were hurt.

The bus was bound for Ishwaramangala from Puttur when the mishap took place as the driver lost control over the steering.

The roof and walls of the house on which the bus fell was partially damaged.

Hassan, Feb 26: A 35-year-old poachers died on the spot by his fellow man accidentally, mistaking him as animal at Yedikumari Kaginahere forest areas near Sakaleshpura in the district early hours Tuesday, police sources said.

The deceased has been identified as Harish.

The incident happened when ten poachers went hunting for wild animals in the Yedikumari Kaginahare forest areas.
