'If Indira praised for 1971, why not Modi for Balakot'

Amravati, Apr 10: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said if the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi can be praised for splitting Pakistan into two in 1971, why can't incumbent Narendra Modi be applauded for giving a befitting reply to Islamabad for the Pulwama terror attack.

Addressing a well-attended public meeting at Nehru Maidan here, he ridiculed the Congress for questioning the air strike on a terror camp at Balakot in Pakistan and over the issue of number of terrorists killed in the operation.

The former BJP president said the February 26 air strike led to restlessness in Pakistan which is understandable, but sought to know why the same feeling prevailed in some sections in India.

"When terrorists attacked and killed our 42 soldiers in Pulwama, Prime Minister Modi immediately held a meeting and ordered the armed forces to avenge the attack within 15 days.

"The operation was executed with utmost care on the 13th day (of Pulwama attack), taking precaution that no innocent person or the Pakistan army is targeted. We targeted only the terrorist training centre and destroyed it," he said.

"If Pakistan turned restless after this attack that is natural, but why should there be a restlessness in some sections in the country?" he asked.

Singh said India has never eyed territory of any country and always believed in the concept of universal brotherhood.

"We don't believe in expansion. We are not expansionists. India has never attacked any country on its own because `Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family) is our culture," the home minister said.

Taking a dig at the opposition's demand to provide figure of terrorists killed in the Balakot air strike, Singh said warriors don't count bodies.

"The `yuddhaveers' (warriors) do not count dead bodies. It is the work of the `giddhveers (vultures)'," he quipped and congratulated the armed forces for the air strike.

The Modi government handled the issue of border security with responsibility and skillfully, Singh said.

"We do not tease anybody but if somebody tries to tease us, we give a befitting reply," he asserted.

"If Indira Gandhi is praised by one and all in the country for her 1971 action of dividing Pakistan into two, why should some people in India feel restless if Modi is praised for his action of giving Pakistan a tit-for-tat reply for the Pulwama attack?" he asked.

Speaking about the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, Singh said there was speculation that it will break, but both parties are "natural allies sent on the Earth to work together".

"For us, it is not a compulsion but a commitment. This bond of friendship is forever," the BJP leader said.

Commenting on the NDA government's performance in the last five years, Singh said under Modi's watch India has become the sixth largest economy in the world from being on the tenth spot before the BJP-led coalition came to power.

He said by 2030-31, India will be among the top three economies of the world.

Singh highlighted the NDA government's achievements in fields like housing, sanitation and social security and claimed the rate of inflation has come down to half of the GDP growth rate in last five years.

"The nation is marching ahead. The image of India is changing at the global level. The world no more looks at India as a weak nation, but a strong nation which has developed an anti-satellite missile, a capability possessed only by Russia, America and China," he said.

Singh expressed confidence about the BJP-led NDA coming to power once again after the April-May Lok Sabha elections.

"BJP will lead the government that will have ministers from allies. A three-fourth majority is possible for NDA this time too. Such is the atmosphere in the country," he said.

Singh talked about promises made in the BJP manifesto for farmers and asked them not to lose hope and keep their morale high.

He criticised Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his party's manifesto pledge of scarping the sedition law if voted to power.

If voted to power, the NDA government would make the law more stringent, the home minister said.

Singh said the Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, will have to scrapped if there is talk of two prime ministers in the country.

Singh said that the road to Delhi is believed to pass through Uttar Pradesh as it has 80 Lok Sabha constituencies.

"But I say a parallel road goes to Delhi through Maharashtra which has the highest number Lok Sabha seats (48) after UP. So, until Maharashtra strengthens, the nation cannot become strong," he remarked.

The rally was organised in support of Anandrao Adsul, the Shiv Sena candidate from the Amravati Lok Sabha constituency which goes to the polls on April 18.

The blaze broke out in the basement of the seven-storey hospital building located in Sector 24, a police official said.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the Fire Department was alerted about it around 8 am, the official said.

After that, a search was done to see if anyone was trapped in the building, he said.

The cooling process is now underway.

He said the fire had engulfed the ground, first and second floors of the building, except the basement.

New Delhi, Jul 23: Riding high on foreign investors buying stakes in Jio Platforms, Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman Mukesh Ambani became the world’s fifth-richest person Wednesday, edging past American investor Warren Buffett on the real-time ranking of billionaires by Forbes. With an estimated wealth of $75 billion, Ambani is only next to Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, whose wealth is pegged at $89 billion.

Buffet had slipped down the rankings after donating more than $37 billion of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. stock since 2006 to charity. Berkshire Hathaway’s stock performance has also underwhelmed recently.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos still sits at top in the richest list, with a net worth of $185.8 billion. He is followed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates with net worth of $113.1 billion and luxury group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s chief Bernard Arnault, with a net worth of $112 billion. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is at the fourth position in the Forbes list.

Shares of Ambani’s conglomerate have more than doubled since a low in March as its digital unit got more than $15 billion in investments from companies including Facebook Inc, Silver Lake, Intel, and most recently, Google. The US tech giant has committed a capital infusion of Rs 33,737 crore for a 7.7 per cent stake on Jio Platforms.

The total investment from financial and strategic investors into Jio Platforms stands at Rs 1,52,056 crore. RIL has raised a total of Rs 2,12,809 crore through a rights issue, the combined investments in Jio Platforms and investment by BP.

During the Reliance AGM last week, Ambani had said RIL has made its net-debt free ahead of a March 2021 target due to recent investments. Ambani said Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution that’s ready for launch as soon as spectrum is made available next year.

Jio and Google have also entered into a commercial agreement to jointly develop an entry-level affordable smartphone with optimisations to the Android operating system and the Play Store, Ambani said.

RILs market value jumped to Rs 12.7 lakh crore or $170 billion on Monday, making it the 51st most valued company in the world. Between April 1 and July 13, RIL has gained $81 billion in market capitalisation and has climbed 47 places from being the 98th most valued company on April 1 to 51st most value company now.

The share price of RIL has risen by 120 per cent over the last four months for Rs 883 per share on March 23, 2020 to Rs 1,939 on Monday. Since April 22, when Facebook Inc announced an investment of Rs 43,574 crore in Jio Platforms for 9.99 per cent equity stake, Jio Platforms has announced investments by 12 other investors. The total investment by these 13 investors over the last 12-weeks amounted to Rs 118,318 crore.

New Delhi, Mar 15: Dozens of Hindu activists held a cow urine party in New Delhi on Saturday to protect themselves from the new coronavirus, as countries around the world struggle to control the deadly pandemic.

Members and supporters of the All India Hindu Mahasabha staged fire rituals and drank from earthen cups to fight the Covid-19 virus at the gathering in New Delhi dubbed a "gaumutra (cow urine) party".

"Whoever drinks cow urine will be cured and protected," Hari Shankar Kumar, a volunteer at the event, said as he served the remedy in brown clay cups.

Governments and scientists have said no medicine or vaccine is available to protect or cure people of the infection that has killed more than 5,400 people and infected nearly 150,000 across six continents.

Two people have died in India while more than 80 have fallen ill, and the government has ordered the closure of some land routes into the country and cancelled all visas to stop the spread of the virus in the world's second most populous country.

Members draped in saffron clothes chanted Hindu hymns at the fire ritual as devotees sang paeans for the sacred animal.

"We have gathered here and prayed for world peace and we will make an offering to the corona (virus) to calm it," Chakrapani Maharaj, the group's leader, told reporters before gulping down a cup of urine.

He then offered a glass to a devil-shaped caricature of the virus to "pacify" it.

He urged people to adopt the "tried and tested" practice of drinking cow urine to ward off diseases, and desist from killing animals and eating meat.

"The coronavirus is also a bacteria and cow urine is effective against all forms of bacteria that harm us," claimed Om Prakash, a participant from the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh.

One legislator from the BJP last week suggested use of the urine as well as cow dung can cure the coronavirus.

If your faith is scientific, simply go to Corona infected patients and cure it.

If you are successful, Not only India the whole world will be Hindus.

If you cant, you will never do it with cow urine or any other urine. People will losse faith on your type of Hinduism.
