Bengaluru, Feb 3: If the Congress MLAs not willing to extend their support to the JD(S)-Congress Coalition government, the BJP will take over the mantle and form the new government in the State, Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilisers and former Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said here today.
Addressing a party workers here on Sunday, Mr Gowda said that "the Coalition government led by JD(S) is in quandary and unable to keep the confidence of all the MLAs in the ruling combine. In this situation, if situation demands, the BJP will step in and shoulder responsibility to form an alternate government in Karnataka".
Stating that he will seek re-election from the Bengaluru North Lok Sabha constituency in the General Election, he said that "we have to work out strategy to face the challenge of the JD(S) and the Congress. Shortcomings faced in the last election should be corrected".
