IMA Fraud: SIT seize Rs 33-cr worth gold, diamond ornaments and documents

Bengaluru, June 19: Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed by Karnataka State Police to inquire into multi-Crore IMA Fraud case, during raids conducted on Residences, Offices and properties have seized Rs 33 Crore worth Gold, Diamond ornaments and incriminating Documents belonging to building and Apartments of the main accused Mohammed Mansoor Khan who is since absconding.

Police in a release here on Wednesday said that during raid one SIT team seized 43 kg of gold ornaments worth about Rs 1.30 Crore, 5884 carrat Diamond worth about Rs 17.8 Crore, 520 kg Silver worth about Rs 1.5 Crore and Rs 1.5 crore worth Sylter Diamond.

Another SIT team which raided the main accused Khan diversed third wife Tabassam Bhanu’s apartment have seized Rs 39.5 lakhs worth 1,503.7 gram gold ornaments, 1.5 kg silver, Rs 2.69 lakh cash and about Rs 1.20 Crore worth apartment.

Tumuku, Jul 6: Senior Congress leader and Kunigal MLA Dr H D Ranganathm tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The 48-year-old Congress legislature, a doctor by himself, was admitted to Manipal hospital and recovering, he said in a tweet.

Dr Ranganath said he took all precautions, yet could not save himself from the virus and advice people to not to take the contagion lightly.

Udupi, Jun 1: As many as 73 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today.

The district has registered a total of 260 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Bengaluru, Jun 30: To instill confidence among its commuters, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to put stamp on hand of all passengers before they are allowed to board the buses.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, The decision was taken in the wake of a sudden jump in the number of COVID-19 cases reported from Bengaluru.

The round stamp is, however, different from 'home-quarantine' stamp applied to infected and they were not allowed to travel. Officials said that the measure is aimed at reassuring passengers that those travelling with them do not have symptoms. The left hand will be stamped with an ink which can be washed away by the time they reach home.
