Imran Khan's ex-wife Reham Khan leaves Pakistan over threats

New Delhi, Feb 6: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s former wife Reham Khan reportedly left Pakistan, citing threats to her life, on Sunday. Talking to Pakistan’s Geo News channel, Reham alleged that she had been receiving threats through phone calls made to her staff and decided to leave Pakistan.

“My staff was receiving threats since last September but now these have increased, so I’ve decided to leave Pakistan,” Reham told Geo News. She also shared an audio clip in which the coordinator of Reham Khan Foundation informs her how he was  threatened to not coordinate her interviews and events.

She claimed that she had to pull her daughter out of school due to the threats and it had left her extremely distressed. She also alleged that no political party in Pakistan was ready to help or support her. She added that she had been receiving threats since September 2017 but the frequency of such calls had increased in the last few weeks, forcing her to leave Pakistan.

According to Reham, several former Pakistani cricketers, too, had called her asking her to forget Imran Khan and not oppose him. But there is no confirmation if Reham had filed any police complaint. She, however, told Geo News that she neither needed anyone to stand by her nor was she afraid of the threats.

Washington, Apr 2: The total US death toll from the coronavirus pandemic topped 4,000 early Wednesday, more than double the number from three days earlier, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The number of deaths was 4,076 -- more than twice the 2,010 recorded late Saturday.

More than 40 percent of recorded deaths nationally were in New York state, the Johns Hopkins data showed.

On Tuesday the United States exceeded the number of deaths in China, where the pandemic emerged in December before spreading worldwide.

The number of confirmed US cases has reached 189,510, the most in the world, though Italy and Spain have recorded more fatalities.

After initially downplaying the threat from new coronavirus in the early stages of the US outbreak, President Donald Trump warned of "a very, very painful two weeks" to come for the country on Tuesday.

Geneva, Jul 2: The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated the overall number of coronavirus cases globally at 10,357,662, with 508,055 people having died from the disease.

The UN health agency said in the situation report published on late Wednesday that 163,939 new cases had been recorded in the past day, while further 4,188 patients had died.

Americas continue to lead the count with over 5.2 million cases, followed by Europe with more than 2.7 million.

The WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11.

LGeneva, Jun 27:: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide has risen by over 177,000 in the past 24 hours to 9.4 million and the death toll has topped 480,000, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Friday (local time).

On Thursday, the WHO reported 167,056 new cases and 5,336 related deaths.

The fresh daily situation report estimates the number of infections confirmed in the past 24 hours at 177,012. Further, 5,116 virus-related deaths were reported over the same period, taking the toll to 484,249.

The Americas lead the count with over 4.7 million cases, followed by Europe with more than 2.6 million.
