Indian community in Riyadh bids farewell to Dr. Haneef Tarin

Riyadh, Jun 15: The Indian community bid adieu to famous physician-turned-author and poet Dr. Haneef Tarin in an emotionally charged poetry evening organized by the Indian literary organization Bazm-e-Sher O Sukhan on Wednesday night in Riyadh.

Tarin, an illustrious poet and author was in the Kingdom for 33 years working with the Ministry of Health. He has 13 books to his credit including nine Urdu books and two books each in Arabic and English and many of his poetic collections have been translated into Arabic and English including “The Truth of Terrorism,” which was highly appreciated by none other than former Indian President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Popular among the expatriate community and in the poetry evenings in Riyadh which he frequented on a regular basis, Tarin has been honored by India’s Uttar Pradesh Urdu Academy, Delhi Urdu Academy, Maharashtra Urdu Academy and various literary and voluntary organizations in the Kingdom in recognition of his valuable literary services and contributions to promote the Urdu language.

In this poetry evening too he was presented with a memento and a traditional shawl by legendary Pakistani poet, writer and critic Prof. Mashkoor Hussain Yaad, who also presided over the farewell session.

Yaad was the chief guest at the function, while top Indian businessman and philanthropist Nadeem Tarin was the special guest.

Yaad also recited his famous ghazals for the benefit of the audience from India and Pakistan and to honor Tarin, who is bidding adieu to the Kingdom after successfully completing his tenure.

Bazm-e-Sher O Sukhan President Aarif Muzaffarnagari also enthralled the audience with his poetry and highlighted Tarin’s contribution to the Urdu language, whereas senior Urdu enthusiast K. N. Wasif read a “Khaka” (sketch) entitled “Haeef Tarin, a literary extremist,” in which he essayed the services and contribution of Tarin and exuded confidence that after retirement from the medical profession, he will be at leisure to promote the Urdu language.

Earlier, the Deccan Cultural Association also felicitated Tarin for his valuable service to literary and cultural programs.

A. A. Shameem, association chairman portrayed Tarin as a well-wisher of the Urdu speaking community and presented a traditional shawl, whereas poets from Rabab-e-Sahra, a Riyadh based literary organization founded by Tarin, presented their poetic contributions.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.
