Indian Cultural Society celebrates victory of SDPI GP candidates

Dubai: The Karnataka chapter of Indian Cultural Society (ICS), UAE, celebrated the victory of a few SDPI backed candidates in Karnataka Gram Panchayat election recently at Mussala tower, Bur Dubai.

Presiding over the function, Nasser Karaje, President of ICS Karnataka, thanked the God and people of Karnataka for supporting SDPI backed candidates and congratulated the cadres of SDPI who actively participated in campaign for their candidates.

He said SDPI had contested in 373 seats out of which 71 seats were won. In 130 seats SDPI candidates secured second places and in remaining 137 seats SDPI candidates secured 3rd place.

Stating that SDPI has emerged 3rd largest political party in costal Karnataka, he urged all the party workers to get ready for the BBMP election.

He also briefed about the social activities carried out by ICS in UAE.

Speaking as the chief guest, Mohammed Shakif, President, Karnataka state unit of Popular Front of India, said that SDPI was need of the hour.

He said that due to the failure of political parties, over 50 crore people in India are still below poverty line. There is no job opportunity for youth in India. There is no social security too, he lamented.

He pointed out that Sangh Parivar is trying to turn Indian from secular democracy into fascist democracy.

Talking about the strength of SDPI, he said that the party is now capable of defeating prominent MLAs.

Akbar Ali Surathkal, Deira, vice president, ICS Karnataka, inaugurated the event through a victory song. Mohammed Ali Muloor, president, ICS, Deira delivered valedictory address. Shaker Belthangady compered the program. Mohammed Shafi Hubli, vice president, ICS, welcomed the gathering. Ashir Chokkabettu, general secretary, ICS, and Deira, Bur Dubai , Sharjah , Abu Dhabi branch committee members were present.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) organized Blood Donation Camp at Latifa Hospital, Oud Mehta Dubai on April 23rd, 2020 in association with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and with support from Community Development Authority (CDA) Government of Dubai.

Blood Donation Drive started in the morning at 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Around 48 people participated in this drive and donated blood to support the Dubai Blood Bank.

A potential shortage of blood for transfusions has been occurred due to a significant reduction in voluntary blood donations during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. The current pandemic, health services are now running with shortages of blood availability. To support the DHA Blood Bank KSCC taken initiative to ensure that blood donations continued and are safe for both the donor and the recipient.

After taking safety precaution and safe distance during the blood donation donors feeling happy and honored to participate and donate blood at this pandemic situation. Club Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi was also present during this event.

KSCC appreciated all the blood donors and be grateful to Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Community Development Authority (CDA), and Government of Dubai for their association for this event. They also thanked the volunteers and supporters.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.
