Anna Ardova, a veteran Russian comedy actor, who always wanted to get a feel of India, is now undergoing Ayurveda treatment in Karnataka’s Udupi. According to her, India is the land spirituality and is the hidden treasure of all happiness.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday she said that she was undergoing Panchakarma treatment at Goswami Treatment Center at Kaup in the district for rejuvenation and to refresh herself and to regain her youth.

Anna said she will promote India and its unique warmth in Russia upon return."The Indians are slow and work at their own pace unlike Russians who hurry up for all little things," she giggled.

She said she is a cheeful person. "An actor is always stressful. I want to relieve stress. Here, I have undergone Virechana Veerechana, which acts a body intoxicant. I have been practising Yoga for many years," she added.

Anna said she has stayed at Kaup for 12 days. "I am deeply in love with the Indian soil and I never want to go back. But I am compelled to go as I have two children," she said.

She said she likes to play the role of Princess Ekaterina "Kitty" Alexandrovna Shcherbatskaya in Russian writer Leo Tolstoy's 'Anna Karenina'.

To a query, she said she had grown up watching Indian Hindi films and was a big buff of old Hindi movies. She has watched Sita Aur Gita seven times. She also liked the film Disco Dancer and watched it several times. She also liked films of Raj Kapoor. “The old Hindi films had grace and positivity, which I find lacking in now,” she said.

Asked how she got attracted to ayurveda, she said she heard a lecture on it some years back at the Indian embassy and that had kindled her desire in ayurveda. She has been practising yoga for years. “I make people happy while doing comic roles. But I thought I required some rest. I decided to come to India and take ayurvedic treatment so that I can go back rejuvenated,” she said.

“Coming to India is like a dream come true to me. I like the people and culture here,” Ms. Ardova said.

Mandya, July 30: BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday said Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has done a commendable job in tackling the Covid-19 situation and floods and that the question of changing the leadership does not arise.

Karnataka on Wednesday reported 5,503 new cases of Covid-19 and 92 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 1,12,504 and the death toll to 2,147.

Speaking to reporters here, Kateel said, "Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi has gone to Delhi to discuss the projects sanctioned to state with the central minister. There is no need to read too much into it."

Replying to a query on graft charges against the BSY government by the Congress, Kateel said, "Congress national president, state unit president are out on bail in graft cases . Why did a Congress leader who calls himself a bande (rock) has approached court seeking stay on CBI probe? Before making any allegations against the government, they should think about 'irregularities' in Indira Canteen and housing schemes," he charged.

Instead of instilling confidence and hope among the people in these testing times, the Congress is unnecessarily creating fear with petty politics, he told reporters in Shravanabelagola, Hassan district.

"The Yediyurappa-led BJP government is working day and night to tackle the Covid-19. Similarly, several non-governmental organisations have joined hands with the government in the fight against the virus. But, the Congress is only creating confusion by issuing baseless statements," Kateel said.

Mangaluru, May 23: In order to ensure that students do not miss out on their studies due to educational institutions being shut owing to the coronavirus lockdown, Dakshina Kannada Pre-university College Principles Association (DKPUCPA) is conducting online classes on YouTube for pre-university students.

The online lessons are shot by lecturers at St Aloysius College and the lectures are then uploaded on YouTube enabling students to watch them online.

"The whole world is currently in a crucial situation because of COVID-19, and because of the lockdown, all are forced to stay indoors. Usually, we used to conduct lectures in a class full of students, but now it is a new experience that we are providing the same information to students in their absence," Rajaram Rao, a lecturer said while speaking to news agency.

He said at present these classes are being conducted for second year pre-university students.

If any student has a doubt on any concept, he said they can contact the teachers. "At present, students also are getting information about the teachers who have uploaded the videos. All the information about the teachers is already being uploaded on the system so that they can contact the teacher," he said.

Dhanya, a student, hailed the DKPUCPA for the setting up of the online classes despite the prevailing situation.

"The teachers who have taught in these classes have taught very well, as if they are teaching right in front of us. It has been very useful for me during this time," she said.

The nationwide lockdown imposed to combat the threat posed by the coronavirus pandemic has been extended to May 31.
