Indian Islamic Centre celebrates 40th anniversary

Abu Dhabi, May 5: Calling the youth force as future of India and United Arab Emirates, P K Kunhali Kutty, Kerala state Minister for Industries & Information Technology, said that quality education and advanced technical knowhow is the need of the hour.

Addressing the 40th anniversary celebrations of Indian Islamic Centre at the IIC Main Hall, Abu Dhabi on May 2, Mr Kutty said that he had worked towards strengthening bilateral ties between India and UAE in the field of trade and commerce.

He said that the pension scheme for labourers was one of the important service accomplished by the government of India.

Mr Kutty also said that Keralites are very hard working and they are very much concerned about their homeland.

Inaugurating the programme, Minister for Youth and Community Development, UAE, Sheik Nahayan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan congratulated IIC for its service towards the community. He also appreciated the hard work and dedication of all Indian expatriates in UAE.

Indian Ambassador to UAE T P Seetharam, who was guest of honour, said that the IIC was doing yeomen service towards the community.

Yousuf Ali.M.A., Managing Director, Lulu Group was chief guest on the function.

Sheikh Nahyan felicitated the recipient of Pravasi Bharathiya Samman Award – 2014 Dr Shamsheer,MD, LLH Hospitals group on the occasion.

Mohamed Ali Uchil and Abdulla Madumoole, representatives of Bearys Welfare Forum- Abu Dhabi, felicitated Dr.Shamsher for his outstanding performance towards the society and receiving the Pravasi Bharthiya Award.

COO UAE Exchange Sudheer Shetty and Chairman SFC K Muralidharan were also felicitated on the occasion.

The programme began with the recitation of holy Quran. M P Rasheed welcomed the gathering. Usman K presented the annual report and briefed the activities of IIC to the gathering. Shukur Ali proposed vote of thanks.

IIC President Natarajan; Gen Sec. Vinod, Taha Medical Centre, Dr Taha; President IIC Abu Dhabi P Bava Haji and Chairman Asian School Saleem Haji were also present.

Dubai: A non-profitable social organization, KSCC is delivering a great service to the community during this pandemic situation.

Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club is a civil organization registered under Community Development Authority (CDA) involved in implementing various UAE government initiatives, blood donation drives, health campaigns, sport events, charity works, awareness programs and much more.

KSCC is currently actively liaising with Dubai government authorities in discharging the needs and requirements of the people in these challenging covid-19 pandemic times. It is also involved the activities such as logistics, coordinating stores, mobilizing isolation centers, equipping quarantine facilities and volunteering services.

During these testing times, KSCC is also facilitating the Guidance to the general public, follow-up up to 122 covid positive cases, counselling the affected, assisting the references and providing the ever-necessary emotional support by setting up a team of 24 reserved persons for call center helplines.

As per the request from DHA (Dubai Health Authority) KSCC has successfully organized the blood donation drive and donated upto 141 units of blood with the help of KSCC members & supporters.

Apart from above, KSCC is also engaged in serving needy by distributing the food provisional kit (Yestahloon) from the very 1st day of lockdown till day by their special task force team under guidelines of CDA, and also taking into consideration the month of Ramadan, team is successfully distributing Iftar food & provision kit with the help of donors.

In the 1st Phase, KSCC covered 2421 beneficiaries by providing 440 provisional food kits, 435 food pack and 529 Iftar kits.

As per the CDA guidelines, club is also engaged in following up the health condition of senior citizens living in UAE.

KSCC special team is also engaged in clearing documentation and formalities related to dead body repatriation until its final procedures and handing over to relatives with help of UAE governments authorities. Total 5 dead bodies are repatriated in their 1st phase of service.

KSCC is also having a center controlled special task team to assist all above activities during the covid-19 pandemic to continue the services to general public.

KSCC thanks all Government authorities, Members in different task team, supporters and Sponsors company MAERSK, MALABAR GOLD & DIAMOND and TAMIL ENTREPRENEUR for their support and also request extend their support to consolidate the above demanding service and deliver our best possible assistance not only because it is the month of Ramadan, but also our responsibility to reach out to the poor and needy, during this fight against Covid-19.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.
