Injured woman spent 3 days in car with dead boyfriend

dead boyfriendEdinburgh, Jul 10: A young woman who was critically injured in a car crash in Scotland spent three days waiting with the dead body of her boyfriend for help to arrive, it emerged Thursday.

Lamara Bell's father accused police of ignoring his 25-year-old daughter after officers admitted they had received a report of the crash on Sunday but failed to act.

The couple and their car were found by a motorway near the town of Stirling on Wednesday. John Yuill, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene while Bell is in a critical condition in hospital, police said.

"Lamara was in a field for three days after the accident. She was on her way home," her father Ossie Dinnefash wrote in a message on Facebook, according to British media.

"Because of some nice guy that phoned it in and was ignored by the incident room the messages were never passed on. Now my daughter is laying on life support."

Yuill's father Gordon told the Daily Record newspaper that his son could not have been saved but said the delay may have an impact on the health of his girlfriend.

"His injuries were such that he died on impact. But I feel it may have made a difference for Lamara. My heart goes out to her family for that," he said.

In the days before they were found, the young couple had been reported missing.

The Police Scotland force said it had launched an investigation into why it did not act on the original report.

"It has come to light that a call was made to police late on Sunday morning regarding a car which was reported as being off the road," it said in a statement.

"For reasons currently being investigated, that report was not followed up at the time."

Tengnoupal, Jan 21: A woman IPS officer has alleged that a rifleman of Assam Rifles physically assaulted and molested her at a check post near Moreh town in Manipur's Tengnoupal district, police said on Tuesday.

Based on a written complaint of the IPS officer, an FIR has been registered against rifleman P K Pandey and a summon has been issued to him to appear before the concerned police station, the police said.

Manipur DGP L M Khaute told reporters on Monday, "We have made contacts with the Assam Rifles authorities. A complaint has been lodged by the officer." In her complaint, the IPS officer said that on reaching Khudengtabi check post on Sunday afternoon one of her escorts, who was not in uniform, told the frisking party of Assam Rifles to register their entry.

Despite showing their identity cards, the rifleman allegedly detained them, she said.

"We offered to search ourselves and the vehicle, but he was not interested", she said.

The rifleman began hitting the official vehicle and "misbehaved, humiliated, harassed and assaulted me and my escort personnel," she alleged.

The IPS officer also alleged that the rifleman molested her and when her escorts tried to intervene, he thrashed them.

She further accused the rifleman of making "sexually coloured" remarks against her, using abusive language and even tried to snatch her phone when she tried to call her senior officers.

The issue was brought under control after the matter was reported to the Brigadier of 26th Assam Rifles and the Major of the D-company of 12th AR, police said.

Khammam, Jun 29: In an outrageous incident, some youths beat up a monkey and strung it up on a tree to death while also releasing dogs to attack it in Ammapalem village in Telangana's Khammam district.

A video of the heinous incident of animal cruelty has surfaced on social media, in which the monkey is seen hanging by a rope from a tree, desperately flailing its limbs while a couple of dogs attempt to pounce on and torment the hapless simian. After a while, several men are seen in the video approaching the animal with long sticks.

Forest officials have charged one villager Venkateshwar Rao under Wildlife Protection Act along with the other accused and arrested them. They were released on bail on Saturday and are set to be summoned for questioning by forest officials.

Rao had spotted the monkey, which had entered his residence apparently in search of food and beat it with a stick and hung it from a tree with the help of his friend.

In the video of the incident, Rao could also be seen instructing his pet dogs to bite the monkey, which was fighting for its life.
