ISL 2015: I didn't like the way Stephen Constantine spoke to me: Roberto Carlos

Margao, Oct 6: Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos, now managing Delhi Dynamos, has expressed his displeasure over the behaviour of Stephen Constantine, saying he 'didn't like the way' the Indian national football team coach spoke to him.

ISLThe World Cup and Champions League winning coach was not happy with the fact that Constantine did not pay heed to the franchise' request of playing the likes of Robin Singh, Sehnaj Singh and Francis Fernandes against FC Goa in their opening Indian Super League (ISL) match last night.

"Yes I spoke to him (Constantine) and asked if I could keep them (players). I did not like the way he spoke," Carlos said in the aftermath of the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Zico's FC Goa. "I don't want to speak about the Indian national team because of the way he spoke to me, good luck to him," the Brazilian was quoted as saying by 'goal.com'.

Players were to be released by every ISL franchise for the national team commitments who are to play twin 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Turkmenistan and Oman on October 8 and 13, respectively.

Dynamos had expressed their desire to release the players on October 5, which would have been a violation of the stipulated FIFA rules which clearly mentions that the players be released by clubs for international duty at least four days prior.

Indore, Jan 8: Skipper Virat Kohli struck an unbeaten 30 as India beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the second Twenty20 international in Indore on Tuesday.

The hosts rode a 71-run opening stand between KL Rahul, who hit 45, and Shikhar Dhawan, who made 32, to chase down their target of 143 in 17.3 overs and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after the first match was rained off.

Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga took the wickets of the Indian openers but Shreyas Iyer, who scored 34 before falling to paceman Lahiru Kumara, and Kohli, who hit the winning six, got the team home.

The third match is on Friday in Pune.

New Delhi, Mar 29: Former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer on Sunday picked his all-time IPL team and appointed wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni as its captain.

Jaffer's team's feature opener Rohit Sharma, current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, spinner R Ashwin, and pacer Jasprit Bumrah as seven domestic players.
While the foreign players spot have been occupied by West Indies' swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle, all-rounder Andre Russell, Afghanistan's spinner Rashid Khan, and Sri Lanka's veteran pacer Lasith Malinga.
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been picked as 12th man by Jaffer.

Earlier this month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to postpone the IPL to April 15, 2020, as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 outbreak.
The board also assured that it will work in unison with the Sports Ministry and will adhere to the guidelines issued.

The 13th edition of IPL was scheduled to commence from March 29.

New Delhi, Jan 12: Flamboyant India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was on Saturday pulled out of the India A team's tour of New Zealand after he failed mandatory fitness tests in Mumbai.

The selectors had picked him in the squad without testing him in the Ranji games.

Tamil Nadu captain Vijay Shankar has been drafted into the India A team and he has already boarded the flight to New Zealand where they will play two 50-over warm-up games, three List A games and two four-day 'Tests' against the home A team.

It has been learnt that Pandya failed a couple of mandatory fitness tests and his scores were well below the permissible range suggesting that he is far from being fit for international cricket. In this situation, pulling him out of the India A squad was expected.
