Islam is not just a religion of prayers: Moulana Usman Baig

Kuwait City: Islam is not just a religion of prayers and religious observance, but it is a complete way of life, said Moulana Usman Baig, National President, All India Imams Council (AIIC).

Baig who also holds a life membership with Peoples Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) was addressing hundreds of expatriates at a Seminar titled ‘Deen-Ul-Haq’ organized by Kuwait India Fraternity Forum (KIFF), at Kuwait Teachers Society, Dasma recently.

He stressed on the important role of women being the nucleus of the family and the community and thereby contributing towards the growth of a strong country.

He further said that, every year 20000-25000 Muslim Ulemas passing out from India’s premier Islamic school of thoughts. However, they are unable to educate Indian Muslim community due to lack of knowledge about modern trends and community needs.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Hameed Mulki, President, KKMA, Karnataka Wing applauded the efforts of the organizers for providing an opportunity to Indian expatriate community to gain knowledge on such a contemporary subject.

The event began with the recitation of Holy Quran by Maulana Samiullah Mysore. Shamsheer Aman, President, KIFF Karnataka Chapter welcomed the gathering and Nazeer Raichur proposed vote of thanks. Eng. Asif Giliyar compered the event. Hafiz Saifuddin, President, Kuwait India Fraternity Forum presided over the programme.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
