Bengaluru, Mar 15: Acting on a tip-off the Income Tax sleuths conducted a raid on a Hotel room located in the central business district, and recovered over Rs 2 crore, allegedly stashed by an Engineer working in the Rural Development and Panchayath Raj (RDPR) on Friday.
According to official sources, the IT officials arrested car driver of the Engineer Narayanagouda Patil, who escaped during the raid. The IT officials, who had conducted simultaneous raid on his residence in Haveri town, have seized cash of over Rs 25 lakh and discriminating documents.
The engineer, was indulged in collecting the money as bribe from the contractors, who were awarded tender for works being done by the RDPR department, the sources, said.
