Hassan, Mar 13: The JD(S) has officially declared that Prajwal Revanna, the grandson of the former prime minister H D Deve Gowda will be the party candidate from the Hassan Lok Sabha seat in the April-18 General elections.

In an election rally, Gowda officially declared Prajwal, son of State Public Works Minister HD Revanna, as the party's candidate.

Mr Gowda, who is presently representing the Hassan Lok Sabha seat, had expressed his willingness to field Prajwal to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Hassan seat, earlier.

“I have brought many people into politics and supported them. But, I don't know why do they find fault with me for bringing my family members into politics,” Gowda said. 

Prjajwal has been nurturing his grandfather’s constituency for quite some time now. Another Gowda grandson Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of HD Kumaraswamy, is set to contest from Mandya in the Lok Sabha polls polls. 

The name of Prajwal was doing rounds for the candidature for some time. He is likely to face rebel Congress leader and former minister A Manju.

Belgaum, Feb 24: Around 20 people entered a boys' hostel premises in Karnataka's Belgaum with rods and bats and destroyed properties allegedly over ragging of a girl by two hostel residents.

The incident took place on February 23 and was captured in the CCTV camera.

According to Belgaum Police, a gang of 20 people entered Dr BR Ambedkar post metric hostel premises in Belgaum with rods and bats. The group destroyed the properties of hostel, bikes, and scooters.

Police said this is an issue of ragging and during the incident, no students were injured.

Further, the investigation is underway.

Bengaluru, Feb 20: German software group SAP said on Thursday that it had temporarily shut down its offices across India for sanitisation after two employees in its Bengaluru Ecoworld office tested positive for H1N1 virus.

"Two SAP India employees based in Bangalore (RMZ Ecoworld office) have tested positive for the H1N1 virus. Detailed contact tracing that the infected colleagues may have come into contact with is underway," SAP India said in an emailed statement.

The company said its offices across Bengaluru, Gurugram and Mumbai have been closed for extensive sanitisation. All employees based in these locations have been asked to work from home till further notice

SAP India also advised its employees to seek medical advice if they or their family members have any symptoms of cold, cough with fever.

H1N1 or swine flu can spread through air. Its symptoms are cough, fever, sore throat, running nose, body ache, headache, chills and fatigue.

Udupi, May 31: As many as 10 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district today. 

The district has registered a total of 187 positive cases so far. Majority of the positive cases in Udupi district have inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, 14 people including three children who recovered from COVID -19 discharged from Government Hospital in Kundapura, in Udupi district.

Kundapura AC Raju, DHO Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda, taluk medical officer Dr Nagabhushan Udupa handed over a rose to all the discharged. With this, a total of 64 persons have been recovered and discharged in the district.
