Jagadish Karanth temporarily barred from delivering speeches in Puttur

Puttur, Oct 8: Hindu Jagaran Vedike leader Jagadish Karanth has temporarily been barred from attending any public meetings in Puttur taluk or making any provocative speeches.

The Judicial Magistrate First Class court here on Saturday granted conditional bail to Karanth. The in-charge JMFC court judge on September 30 had granted him interim bail following his arrest by Dakshina Kannada district police at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) for his vitriolic outburst against a Muslim police sub-inspector.

The regular JMFC court judge Basavaraj directed Jagadish to sign the register at Puttur town police station every Sunday. He was directed not to attend any public meetings in Puttur taluk or make any provocative speeches during pendency of the trial and cooperate with investigating officer Mahesh Prasad, police inspector, Puttur.

C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy, SP, said the case was registered under Sections 505(1) c, 505 (2), 153(A), and 189 of the Indian Penal Code at Puttur town police station. Objections filed by district police meant Karanth had to wait until Saturday to get regular bail as the hearing held on Wednesday and Friday was deferred and the judge passed the final order on Saturday. The police have sent the video of Karanth's speech for forensic analysis.

Sushant Singh had posted heartbroken message after Udupi girl Disha Salian's death

Newsroom, Jun 14: Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his house in Mumbai’s Bandra today, was heartbroken after the death of his former manager Disha Salian.

34-year-old actor had posted a heartfelt note after her death: “It’s such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha’s family and friends. May your soul rest in peace.”

The police are considering 28-year-old Disha’s death as an accidental one and the investigation is on to find if it was a suicide. She died after falling off the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai on June 8.

It is not yet known if there is any connection between the two deaths. Sushant’s house help reportedly found him hanging inside his room on Sunday and cops are investigating the case. He was recently seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore and more recently on Netflix opposite Jacqueline Fernandez in Drive.

Who is Disha Salian?

Disha Salian hails from Karnataka’s coastal district of Udupi. She was born in 1992 into a business family background. She reportedly migrated to Mumbai with her family at an early age.

After completing her education, she worked in the Times of India Group for more than three years. She went on to become the celebrity manager at Media Vantage.

Apart from Sushant, she had great links with many popular celebrities like Bharti Singh, Alisha Panwar, and others.

COVID-19: Karnataka reports another positive case; total at 5

Bengaluru, Mar 12: Karnataka on Thursday confirmed another positive case of the deadly coronavirus, taking the total number of infected persons to five in the state.

According to a source from the State Health Department, the infected person, a 26-year-old patient had recently returned from Greece. He is currently under observation in an isolation ward in a city hospital.

Chikkamagaluru reclaims ‘corona-free district’ tag as all 16 patients discharged

Chikkamagaluru, June 6: The Chikkamagaluru district has become free from confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The last two of the 16 covid patients in the district were discharged today after they were treated and tested negative.

P 2765, a 28-year-old man and P 2766, a 38-year-old man were discharged, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautham. Nine others were discharged from hospital yesterday.

Till May 22, Chikkamagaluru district had not recorded any positive and had remained a green zone till then.

However, with the influx of stranded people from Maharashtra and Delhi, the district had registered 16 covid positive cases.

“As on today, there are no active covid-19 cases in the district. However, we should be attentive and take all the precautionary measurers,” the DC said.

The officer has appealed to the public to maintain social distancing in public places and wear masks.
