JCI holds free medical camp

Mangalore, March 6: Junior chamber International, Mangalore, in association with Mangalore Paint Dealers Association conducted a free medical camp on Sunday at SDM Mangaljyothi Integrated School, Vamanjoor, near here.

MSW Dept. of St. Aloysius College, Child Fund Project, Mangaljyothi Integrated School and KMC Hospital Mangalore also extended their support for the camp.

Corporator of the area Meera Ashok inaugurated the programme. Community coordinator of Mangalajyothi T Nagendra Rao, Medical Social Worker of KMC Mangalore, Ruth Stevenson, Project Officer of Child Fund Project, and Mahendra Billava were the guests.

President of JCI Mangalore and Mangalore Paint dealers association Jc Mahesh Kamath welcomed the gathering. Vice President Ramesh Shenoy, Secretary of JCI Mangalore Jc Roshan Deepak Pinto, Project coordinator Jc Dr.Rahul T.G, Mr Sathyaprakash of KMC Mangalore were also present.

Deepthi, Student of St Aloysius College compered the program. MSW students Surabi, Sreedivya, Fr.Binoy, Jayaprakash and Nazrinson coordinated the event.

As many as 300 people from the area took benifit from the medical camp.

Ex-minister Vishwanath among 5 nominated to Karnataka Legislative Council

Bengaluru, Jul 22: Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, had appointed five persons to the Karnataka Legislative Council, which remained vacant, including former ministers H Vishwanath and C P Yogeshwar, here on Wednesday.

In a Raj Bhavan communique issued here on Wednesday, it was stated that the Governor had accepted the names suggested by the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa, to fill the vacancies in the Upper House.

Apart from H Vishwanath, and Yogeshwar, the others who were nominated to the Council, were former MLA Bharathi Shetty, Shantharama Budna Siddi, and Talwar Sabanna.

Social distancing norm goes for a toss at ASHA workers' meet organized by BJP MLA

Davanagere, Apr 26: Amid the national lockdown imposed by the Centre to check the spread of coronavirus, social distancing norms were flouted as BJP MLA from Honnali -- MP Renukacharya -- held a meeting of ASHA workers on Thursday.

The workers were present in large numbers and no distance of at least one metre between the workers was maintained during the meeting.

However, the workers were seen wearing masks at the meeting but violating the norms of social distancing.

Social distancing is one of the measures that can help people avoid contracting the highly contagious coronavirus.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Karnataka has a total of 489 positive COVID-19 cases of which, 153 patients have recovered and 18 patients have died due to the deadly virus.

People in this Karnataka city boycott health survey mistaking it for NRC

Chamarajanagar, Jan 3: The residents of Galipura layout in Chamarajanagar city boycotted the annual Community Based Survey (CBS), conducted by the Health and Family Welfare department, mistaking it to be the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Majority of the residents in the layout belong to Muslim community. The people, who mistook CBS to the NRC survey, got into arguments with the Asha workers, who were given the responsibility of collecting information. They even tore the forms into pieces and vent their ire.

The Health Department conducts CBS every year in the urban areas and collects all details including Aadhaar number, residential address, details of family members, health problems and others.

Fifteen Asha workers were deputed for the survey in the layout. A few youths started questioning them alleging it to be an NRC survey and started arguing with them.
Tahsildar Mahesh, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr N C Ravi, with the help of Muslim leaders cleared the confusion. The community leaders assured of explaining it to the residents and extend cooperation to the survey.

Its not the fault of the residents. Sanghis are planning to approach citizins disguised as health workers and else to get details of residents. such trouble makers should be noted and handed over to police. Police should arrest such fake people and put in jail. such fake people are trying to terrify poors and collect money assuring to help them. So, please be careful.
