JD(S), Congress fight will worsen after May 23: Yeddyurappa

Kalaburagi, May 6: BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa on Monday said the infighting within Congress-JD (S) alliance in Karnataka will intensify once Lok Sabha election results will be out on May 23 and any time after that the government may fall under its own weight.

He said the BJP will not destabilise the government nor will it enter into alliance with JD (S) and form the government later.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday Yeddyurappa said that the JD (S) had betrayed BJP in past 20-20 government and now BJP will not think about farm new government alliance with JD (S) in the state.

He said that the 20 MLA who unsatisfied in Congress-JD (S) government would decide the future of the government and the BJP will not interfere in the internal matters of the Coalition partners, he said.

Mr Yeddyurappa alleged that teh Home minister M B Patil misused his power and the BJP will come out in the street and intensified about this ' Vendetta ' politics, he said.

He said that instead of find out the truth about ' the letter' allegedly written by Home Minister M B Patil to congress leader Sonia Gandhi, the government was indulging in revenge politics. ‘’We will fight against such attitude of the home minister against BJP sympathisesrs and intensify the ongoing BJP protest.

Mangaluru, Jul 5: A COVID-19 patient escaped from a hospital in Mangaluru on Sunday, Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar.

A total of 1,925 cases of COVID-19 and 37 deaths recorded in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 23,474.

The health department informed that the death toll rose to 372 while active cases stood at 13,251 in the state.

According to the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 6,73,165 numbers of COVID-19 cases and 19,268 deaths.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 15: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan''s daughter Veena married top DYFI All India president Mohammed Riaz at the chief minister''s official residence in the presence of selected guests.

Riaz and Veena became husband and wife at a solemn function held under Covid protocols with not more than 50 people present.

This was the second marriage for both, as their first ones ended in divorce.

Riaz has two children, while Veena has a son from their respective previous marriages.

Riaz is a lawyer by profession and had contested the Kozhikode Lok Sabha seat in 2009 but lost to the Congress'' M.K.Raghavan.

Veena runs her own software company in Bengaluru.

While the marriage has already been registered recently, the wedding event was a closed door affair, with just very close relatives of the couple besides a few senior party colleagues of Vijayan.

Bengaluru, Jul 5: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has asked officials to ensure that all necessary arrangements for COVID-19 patients must be carried out efficiently and transparently, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said.

"Karnataka is in a better position due to the efforts and hard work of ministers, doctors, officials and all staff. The cases have increased in Bengaluru and some other districts in last few days due to various reasons. We all have to work hard and contain the spread of virus," Dr Sudhakar told media on Saturday.

"Responsibilities related to policy formulation, preparation of guidelines, communication to media and management of war room have been assigned to me. Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan has been given the responsibility of managing COVID-19 care centres and Revenue Minister R Ashoka and Chief Minister's political secretary Vishvanath have been given the responsibility of managing private hospitals. The Chief Minister has instructed all of us to work in synergy," he said.

Dr Sudhakar said the matter of imposing lockdown in the state again was discussed in the task force meeting. "I and Deputy Chief Minister suggested that lockdown is not necessary at this stage. The Chief Minister will take a decision on this matter," he added.

Home Minister Basavar Bommai, Health Minister B Sriramulu, Revenue Minister R Ashoka and senior officials were present in the task force meeting.
