JDS leader G T Deve Gowda vociferously praises PM Modi

Belagavi, May 30: Higher Education Minister and senior JD(S) leader G.T. Deve Gowda has attributed BJP’s victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “single-minded commitment to nationalism”.

At his presidential address at Rani Channamma University in Belagavi on Wednesday, Mr. Gowda said: “He won because he is committed to the nation and national interest. From tea seller, he has risen to be the Prime Minister owing to hard work and commitment.”

Later, he told presspersons that he appreciates people based on their work and not party affiliation. “I was in the BJP for five years, but never abused JD(S) leaders like H.D. Deve Gowda or his sons H.D. Kumaraswamy and H.D. Revanna. Mr. Modi has handled issues like Pulwama and the surgical strikes in an appreciable manner,” he said.

However, he was convinced that it was the personal image of the Prime Minister that brought the BJP and NDA back to power and the parties could claim no credit for it.

To a question, Mr. Gowda said there was no contradiction between his praise for Mr. Modi and his commitment towards building the JD(S) in Karnataka. He said Mr. Modi was not trying to destabilise the coalition government in Karnataka.

Udupi, Jan 7: The Malpe Beach Utsav will be held on February 1 and 2, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district G Jagadeesh said on Tuesday.

According to a release issued here, the festival, which was slated to be held between December 29-31, had been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.

The DC said various beach sports and cultural events have been organised to mark the Utsav.

Dammam, Feb 3: Harish Bangera, 32, who was arrested in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia more than a month ago after offensive Facebook post went viral, has remained incommunicado.

Bangera, who hails from Goyadibettu in Bijadi village of Kundapur taluk, Udupi district, was an air-conditioning technician for a company in Dammam, capital of Saudi's eastern province.

He was arrested on December 20, 2019 after he posted derogatory messages on Facebook against crown prince Mohammad bin Salman and went on to claim that a Ram temple will be built in the holy city of Makkah too just like in Ayodhya where the Babri mosque was demolished.

Fearing legal action, he later posted a video pleading for forgiveness. “I have committed a mistake. Please forgive me. I will never upload any such posts again," he is seen saying in the video.

After his arrest, his roommate, who happens to be a Pakistani, has reportedly made several attempt to contact him, but in vain. He also has approached many Indian and Saudi authorities in his bid to get Bangera out of prison, sources said.

The Saudi authorities have not even responded to the messages of Indian Ministry of External Affairs. "We've made many efforts to contact the Saudi authorities but they haven't responded,” MEA sources said.

There can be many such people in the Kingdom. 

 

They should be identified and treated in the same way.

These are real terrorists, keep him few years in jail,  they should not be let free. Otherwise they will forget and commit again.

Well done Saudi Authorities, this kind of mentality should be eleminated even any whare in any country we have many BJP dogs barking nonsence always all should be eleminated.

Bengaluru, Jun 12: All the four candidates, including former prime minister H D Deve Gowda (JDS), and senior Congress leader Mallikarjna Kharge, on Friday were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

Karnataka Assembly Secretary sources here said that all the four candidates, who were in the fray for as many berths, were elected after the last date of withdrawal of candidature ended on Friday.
