Bengaluru, Apr 6: In an apparent U-turn, former chief minister and JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy has said that his party may join hands with the party to from a coalition government in Karnataka in case of a fractured mandate.

It’s worth mentioning here that Kumaraswamy had recently stated that JD(S) would not join hands with any party in case of a fractured mandate in Karnataka. He had also said that his party would demand for a by-election if no party gets clear majority.

However, speaking at a JD(S) Vikasa Parva rally at the Subhash Chandra Bose grounds in Chikkamagalur on Sunday, he said if a coalition government becomes inevitable due to a fractured verdict in the May 12 elections, his party would join hands with the party that would agree to implement JD(S)’ programs.

Kumaraswamy said that television surveys had indicated that the party would clinch 40 seats. "Without us no one can form a government," he claimed.

"I have no ambitions of becoming chief minister. I am a former CM. Even if we get 40 seats as predicted, I will not go to anybody's door asking for chief ministership. If there is a coalition government, then the party we support must back our development programs," he averred.

Kumaraswamy said that he was confident that the people of the state would back JD(S) and the party would win over 113 seats. He also said after touring northern Karnataka he was confident that JD(S) would win seven seats in Vijayapura, seven in Bidar, six in Raichur.

In an interview with a regional Kannada news paper, the Dakshina Kannada based activist, lamented that instead of using social media for the welfare of the nation, BJP leaders used it to spread lies for their political gains.

On one hand BJP fooled people through false promises and colourful dialogues, while on the other hand it misled crores of youth by spreading fake news, twisted facts and false information, she said.

Ms Ballal went on to accuse BJP of following the footsteps of the British. “BJP is following all the methods employed by the British invaders to divide the people of India and make them hate each other,” she said.

She said that Congress always used the social media for the benefit of the country. If the new generation realises this fact, the country will once again turn its direction towards development, she asserted.
