Hassan/Mysuru, Apr 3: Janata Dal (S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has exuded confidence that his party will prove that it is the 'A' team and form the government in the state defeating both the national parties, the Congress and the BJP.

Addressing a gathering as part of 'Vikasa Parva' rally in Hassan on Monday, the former prime minister attacked All India Congress Congress president Rahul Gandhi who had called the JD(S) the 'B' team of the BJP, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

"Rahul Gandhi reads out the speech prepared by local leaders, condemning the JD(S). He has not given any assurance to coconut, arecaunut and potato growers of the district," Gowda he said.

"Siddaramaiah, who began his political journey from the Janata Parivar, became chief minister. But, he has been declaring a war against the JD(S), to destroy the party. The people would teach him a befitting lesson in the elections," he warned.

Former chief minister and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy said the party will form the government on May 18, the birthday of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda. Both, the Congress and the BJP have been betraying the people of the state, he stated.JD(S) leaders P G R Sindhia, A H Vishwanath and H D Revanna were among those addrssed the well-attended rally.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah continued his tirade against the Janata Dal (Secular) while campaigning in the Chamundeshwari constituency on Monday by saying that it would not win more than 25 seats in the Assembly elections. He sought votes on the basis of his five-year track record.

Addressing the public at Jayapura, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Congress would sweep the polls. “Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy are dreaming of coming to power, but it is me who will become Chief Minister again,” he said. The JD(S) won 40 seats in the last elections and this time it would not win more than 25 seats, Mr. Siddaramaiah said. “I have travelled all over Karnataka and there is a surge in the Congress popularity owing to development works taken up in the last five years, which has benefited all sections of society,” he added.

Standing on a goods vehicle, fitted with microphone to address the gathering, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he started his political career from this constituency in 1983 and wanted to contest from the same constituency one last time.

But his plea for votes on the basis of development programmes was also laced with an emotional appeal as he repeatedly sought to remind them that it was his last election.

Bengaluru, Jun 10: Internet connectivity, provided under the central government's BharatNet initiative, will be improved in rural areas of Karnataka in the next two to three months, said Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan.

After video conferencing with heads of different agencies and officials, on improving the quality of internet in rural areas, Ashwath Narayan said, "I reviewed the progress of the BharatNet implementation and the steps to be taken to improve the quality of internet connectivity in the next two to three months."

"We also discussed the possibility of giving the implementation of BharatNet to a different agency. We will seek permission from the central government and continue the project. We will ease communication with rural people by ensuring quality and high-speed internet to all Gram Panchayats," he added.

When BSNL officials and other agency representatives who attended the video conference shared their problems, the Deputy Chief Minister assured to solve them through proper coordination.

"Through BharatNet, several government schemes are being implemented in rural areas. Civic service centres are issuing birth and death certificates, Aadhaar cards and social security pensions among others. Of the total 6,000 Gram Panchayats in the state, 4,000 have high-speed internet connectivity, and the remaining will be provided with better internet connectivity through a new agency,'' said Ashwath Narayan.

Additional Secretary (e-governance) Rajeev Chawla, Additional Chief Secretary (IT-BT) EV Ramana Reddy, Principal Secretary (RDPR) Uma Mahadevan, Director (IT) Meena Nagaraj, Collegiate Education Director Pradeep and other senior officials were present in the meeting.

Bengaluru, Jul 27: Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that when COVID-19 has made life and livelihoods difficult, it is unfortunate that charges have been levelled of irregularities in the procurement of COVID-19 equipment.

"The Congress which has levelled charges against the ruling BJP has not so far filed a complaint with any investigating agency. Instead, the Congress has limited itself to getting publicity. On the other hand, the ruling BJP instead of coming clean by ordering a probe into the main charges is indirectly admitting the scam," Kumaraswamy said on Sunday.

"By washing dirty linen in public, both the Congress and the BJP are playing a cruel joke on people instead of protecting their lives," he said.

Hitting out at the BJP, he asked, "Why is it that the BJP is not ordering an investigation into the Rs 2,000 crore Covid 19 corruption charges levelled against the government by the Congress? Why is the government keeping quiet on the corruption charges?"

He said, "Is this the leadership provided by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa? There could be political pressure on seeking resignation of his Ministers. But why has no action been initiated against any officers? Is there any effort to destroy the evidence by retaining officers in their existing postings?"

"Hunger for publicity is evident when we look at the press conference by five Ministers at a time," he said.

The government has countered the charges of the Congress but backtracked on ordering an investigation, he said.

"Would this not give rise to suspicion that the government is involved in the scam?" he asked.

He also asked why Congress leaders have not filed a complaint before any investigating agency despite "possessing documents to prove the charges".

"Are the Congress leaders trying to get publicity or are they concerned about the welfare of the people? The Congress Legislative Party leader is seeking an account (Lekka Kodi) while the BJP president is seeking answers (Uttara Kodi). Is it enough to give such questions and answers?"

Is there a concrete legal plan to deal with the irregularities? he asked.

"Looking at the way the Congress leaders have addressed media conferences and taken to social media campaigns, it appears that they are trying to get publicity," he said.

Bengaluru, Aug 6: Firebrand BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday said that control of state power by Hindus is absolutely essential for sustenance of Dharma.

His comments, in a series of tweets, came on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lord Ram temple at Ayodhya.

"Dear Hindus, Most important lesson is that control of State power by Hindus is absolutely essential for sustenance of Dharma. When we didn't control State, we lost our temple. When we regained, we rebuilt. The 282 (seats) in 2014 and 303 (seats) in 2019 to Sri Narendra Modi made today possible!", Surya, who is also the party's BJP youth Wing state general secretary, tweeted.

He also said that the survival of India depends on the survival of Sanatana Dharma.

"The Sanatana Dharma, that is nationalism,' Sri Aurobindo had said in his Uttarapara speech. But what does it mean? Along with Jai Sri Ram, the purohits also chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai - That is Dharmic nationalism. If Dharma survives, India survives," he said in another tweet.
