Jeddah: Karnataka Noble Trophy -2014 cricket tournament held

Jeddah: The first season of Karnataka Noble Trophy (KNT) Cricket Tournament with the slogan “Cricket for noble cause” jointly organized by Karnataka NRI Forum and Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah, got off to a colorful start at the Sharbatli Ground, Baghdadiya here recently.

The tennis ball limited over knockout series tournament participated by sixteen reputed cricket teams from Jeddah, has been officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Vice President - Jeddah Cricket Association. Delivering his chief guests speech, Mr. Khan appreciated the organizing committee for supporting the noble cause through sports activities in KSA which will also spread positive awareness among the community on social development of our society. He also assures to extend full support to both the organizations from Karnataka State in future and remembers his routes and relations with Karnataka State.

President of the Karnataka NRI Forum Jeddah Mr. Roshan Rodrigues welcomed the chief guest, sponsors, well wishers, all participating teams, cricket loving audience and all the organizing committee members. Mr. Roshan emphasize the importance of promoting cricket in Saudi Arabia and said this would play vital role in bridging the strong Indo – Saudi relation and appealed all the playing teams to enjoy the cricket matches with real sport spirit.

Managing Committee Team leader Mr. Mohammed Mansoor has introduced both the Organizations as top NGOs of Karnataka striving to help poor and needy persons back home in India and in KSA and also highlighted the activities & objectives of both the organizations & presented the prime objective of KNT trophy as a Joint endeavor of Karnataka NRI Forum and Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah.

Vice President of Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah Mr. Mohammed Rafeeq while speaking said this is the first occasion where two major organizations of Karnataka working together for the noble cause and wished good luck to all the participating teams.

The first round knockout matches has completed on 4th Dec, Thursday night and by 5th Dec Friday evening onwards and the following teams emerged in the first round after knocking down its opponents:

Al Max Vs Center point: Al Max won by 7 wickets.
Rising star Vs JICC: Rising Star won the match.
Abiyon Jeddah Vs Challengers: Challengers won by 5 wickets.
Basem International Vs IOE Jeddah: Basem International won by 5 wickets
Jeddah Scorpio Vs Target Guys: Target Guys won by 5 runs
ISF Karnataka Vs MSC Shipping: ISF Karnataka won by 112 runs.
IOE Reliance Vs Dazzel Super King: Dazzel Super King won by 39 runs.
Deccan Knights Vs ATS: ATS won by 48 runs.
ISF Karnataka has set the new record of 186 runs for 3 in eight over match with the amazing batting performance by Amir who scored individually 90 with 13 sixes and 2 boundaries which was widely appreciated by all the cricket loving spectators.
The second round Quarter Finals will be played in between following teams on 11th Dec Thursday night:
Al Max Vs Challengers: 8.00 pm to 9.30pm
Rising Star Vs Basem International: 9.30pm to 11.00pm
Target Guys Vs Dazzel Super King: 11.00pm to 12.30am
ISF Karnataka Vs ATS: 12.30am to 2.00am
The winners of Second Round Quarter Finals will fight for Semi Finals on Friday 12th Dec as per following schedule:
First Semi Final: 2.00pm to 3.30pm
Second Semi Final: 3.45pm to 5.15pm
Finals will be played on 12th Dec 2014 by 5.45pm to 7.15pm

Colorful inaugural program was started with recitation of Holy Quran by Shaikh Saoud, IT Coordinator KNRI Forum while Niaz Ahmed, press secretary of the forum anchored the program. Syed Nasir Khursheed proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of Karnataka Noble Trophy Managing Committee  to Chief Guest, well wishers, sponsors, all the playing teams, audience and he also expressed deep sense of appreciation for excellent team work performed by members of both KNRI Forum and JF Jeddah on organizing this spectacular event especially  by Shaikh Saoud, Sabu chandran, Arshad Hussain, Nawaz Sharief, Harsha, Yeshwant, Mohammed Saheb, Imtiaz Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar, Atish Ahmed, Fahim, Ashfaq and Farooq have played major role in organizing this tournament with ground and pitch preparation. Habeeb Rahman was the match referee for all the matches and professional umpiring was done by Arshad, Sharief, Nawaz and Haseeb while Giant Score Board was controlled by Shaikh Saoud, Samir Kazi, Iqbal Mirza and Ansar Shaikh. All cricket lovers enjoyed live commentary by well known commentator and former radio announcer of Sri Lanka Radio MMM Naushad, Shaikh Saoud, Abdul Khader and Saif.

Riyadh, Jan 28: The celebration of the 71st Republic Day was held on January 26th by the Central Committee of the Indian Social Forum Riyadh at the Ramada Hotel Auditorium in Riyadh. People from different Indian states and different religious backgrounds were present during the event.

The program was inaugurated with the unity song, Saleem Moulavi– Regional committee member India Fraternity Forum/Riyadh inaugurated the program.

Social Forum Central Committee president Janab Harris Mangaluru chaired the program and welcomed the guests. In his presidential speech he described and uncovered stories of freedom struggle and participants of Indian Muslims for the freedom fight. He urged everyone to fight against unconstitutional Citizenship Amendment Bill which passed by Centre government. He said that the We will continue its agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the NRC and would not relent unless the Union government withdrew the Act.

Indian Social Forum Karnataka State Committee member Janab Mohammed Naveed delivered the Republic Day message. He said India was formed based on concept of ‘unity in diversity’ and it becomes every Indians’ responsibility to safeguard it. He expressed concern over CAA, NRC and NPR. Across India, students at other universities are against the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by Centre government.  The law offers amnesty to undocumented migrants from three neighboring Muslim-majority countries but only if they are non-Muslim. Critics say that by excluding Muslims, the law establishes a religious test for Indian citizenship, in violation of the secularism enshrined in India's constitution. The Indians, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region have firmly resolved to oppose the draconian laws and fascist moves to debar the poor. Constitution granted to every person and citizen of India who are not ready to put them on a test of ideology of RSS and programs of BJP to implement the Brahmanist mind-set. He said that the police atrocities against CAA/NRC/NPR protesters had increased only in BJP-ruled States and  there were several loose ends in the police story about the incidents leading to the firing.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
