Jilted lover thrashes and injures classmate

Idukki, Sept 22: A 20-year-old jilted lover allegedly thrashed and injured his classmate after she rejected his proposal, following which police registered a case against him.

The incident occurred on September 18, police said.

The boy and his classmate are pursuing Bachelors in Computer Application (BCA) at a local college here and were close from the first year onwards.

However, the girl later broke off her friendship, police said.

When he again approached her, she rejected him and told him that she was close to another youth, angering him, following which he allegedly beat her up.

The woman has been admitted to the Idukki medical college hospital and has bruises on her ear, head and face and a crack on her jaw bone.

A police official told PTI that a case has been registered against the youth under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including assaulting a woman with the intent of outraging her modesty, wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation.

The woman, in her statement to police, stated that she was sitting in class with four of her friends when the youth barged in and started attacking her.

She said her classmates ran out and informed teachers.

The youth is absconding and a search was on to nab him, police said.

Gonda, Apr 9: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room as he was missing his wife stuck at her parents' place due to the lockdown, police said.

The incident took place in Radha Kund locality here on Wednesday, they said, adding the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Soni, 32.

As per information, Soni's wife had gone to her parents' place and was stuck there due to the lockdown and he was missing her due to which he committed suicide, Inspector Alok Rao said.

A probe is on in the mater, he said.

Kanpur, May 24: Three persons onboard separate Shramik Special trains lost their lives due to various ailment, officials said here on Saturday.

"Family members of the deceased said all were suffering from serious ailment. The travel history of all the three deceased passengers was taken, Kanpur District Magistrate Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari said.

Giving details about the deceased, he said Naichinalyu Disang (23), a resident of Nagaland, was going from Delhi to Dimapur.

"She was suffering from liver ailments," Tiwari said. As she coughed and vomited in the train, other passengers got terrified, he added.

The district magistrate said the body reached Kanpur Central Station at around 10.00 am.

Sample has been taken to check for the presence of novel coronavirus. She was working at a spa in Himachal Pradesh, he said.

Tiwari said Rajendra Prasad (50), a resident of Unnao, died on the Lucknow-bound special train from Andhra Pradesh.

Munni Devi (80), a resident of Siwan district in Bihar, died onboard the special train going from Surat to Siwan, the senior official informed.

New Delhi, Jan 2: A 20-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after he was challaned by the traffic police in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Wednesday, police said.

Vikas, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was challaned by the traffic police for riding the motorcycle without helmet, a senior police official said.

The traffic police challaned him and impounded the motorcycle, following which Vikas set the bike on fire, the officer said.

A case has been registered and the accused arrested, the officer added.
