Jubail: AMACO wins Al-Falah Trophy

Jubail, Dec 20: Amaco cricket team won Al-Falah cricket tournament defeating NGC by 8 wickets here on Friday, December 13.

Total 10 teams participated in this floodlit tournament conducted by Al-Falah, Jubail and was held in new ground in Jubail city.

Opting to field in the final, Amaco bowlers showed some disciplined performance and made it difficult for the hard hitting batsmen of the NGC to score fluently. The NGC lost its precious batsman Anis in the first over of the match as he was bowled by Shabeer. At the end of 5th over NGC was able to score just 32 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. But, after that NGC batsman Ansaf accelerated the scoring with some mighty hits. The NGC managed to score 76 runs in the allotted 10 overs.

Chasing the target of 77, Amaco started the innings with a bang by Rameez hitting boundary in very first ball of the first over. Opening stand between Rameez and Asif yielded 24 runs in first 3 overs. Rameez scored 33 quick runs. Niyaz and Safdar made it comfortable for Amaco to reach the target as they easily reached the target in 8 overs. Niyaz who was the consistent performer of this tournament remained unbeaten and was awarded man of the series. Rameez of Amaco won Man of the Final award while Safdar got best batsman of the tournament. Best bowler of the tournament was awarded to Ashim.

Through the tournament Amaco showed its dominance by defeating the opponent with heavy margin. Earlier in the semi-final Amaco defeated KFC and NGC beat Al-Falah to enter the finals.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.
