Jubail chapter of Bearys Chamber of Commerce & Industry to be launched on Nov 21

Jubail, Oct 18: The Beary entrepreneurs in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are gearing up to launch the Jubail chapter of Mangaluru-based Bearys Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 21.

A preparatory meeting in this regard was held on Thursday, October 17 at Golden Fish Restaurant in Jubail, wherein Zakariya Jokatte, the vice president of BCCI, shed light on the history and achievements of the organisation since its formation in 2016.

In his Power Point Presentation, Mohammad Asif Amaco, executive committee member of BCCI, proposed a few new community projects including a halal recreation club in Mangaluru. 

He advised Beary entrepreneurs to invest in diversified areas instead of sticking to only one field.

Khasim Ahmed H K, founder chairman of Hidayah Foundation and member of BCCI executive committee, also spoke. Farooq Mulki, entrepreneur and member of BCCI executive committee was present.

On the same occasion the brochure of the BCCI Jubail chapter launching ceremony was released.

Around 40 people took part. The meeting commenced with the Quran recitation by Aqil Farooq. Abdul Basheer welcomed. BCCI secretary Mohammad Ashraf proposed vote of thanks. Mohammad Firoz Kalladka compered the programme.

Kasaragod, May 30: Karnataka origin IPS officer D Shilpa has been appointed the new Superintendent of Police of Kasargod district.

The 35-year-old 2016-batch IPS officer is the first woman SP of Kasaragod. 

Her appointment follows the sudden transfer of P S Sabu who was hitherto holding the post. He has now been appointed as SP of Alappuzha.

Shilpa has earlier served as ASP of Kasargod. She was also ASP of Kannur during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Shilpa was one of the three IPS officers assigned to Kasaragod with IG Vijay Sakhare during the first phase of covid lockdown.

A native of HSR Layout in Bengaluru, Shilpa holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Bantwal, Feb 7: A 31-year-old man has been arrested on charge of sexual assault on a minor boy at Kanyana under the limits of Vittla police station in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada.

The police have identified accused as Suresh Prabhu, a resident of Kanyana village. He is said to be an activist of a saffron outfit.

The alleged sexual assault took place on February 1, when the victim, a schoolboy, was on his way home from the school. 

According to police, Prabhu called the boy saying he wanted to tell a secret. He then took him to the school toilet and sexually assaulted him there. 

After returning home, the boy narrated the incident to his mother, who approached the jurisdictional Vittla police station and lodged a complaint. 

After taking the minor boy’s statement, the police registered a case under section 341, 377, 506 IPC and POCSO Act against Prabhu. He was arrested on February 5.

Bengaluru, Jul 1: Faced with increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the State Capital, Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice A S Okha has decided the Court to function online.

Registrar General Rajendra Badamikar, in the notice issued here on Wednesday, based on order of the Chief Justice, stated that the emergency cases will be conducted through video conference until the next order.

The order also specifies that only the principal seat (Bengaluru) will be conducting proceedings online. High Court benches at Dharwad and Kalaburagi will continue to function as usual.
