Jubail: Toastmaster Mohammed Al Qahtani feted

Jubail: Al Awal Advanced Toastmasters, the only advanced club in Jubail, held a special meeting on Saturday, 9th January 2016 at Al-Jude Village, Jubail to felicitate recently crowned in Las Vegas, USA, the first Saudi Arabian World Champion of Public Speaking 2015 Toastmaster Mohammed Al Qahtani as well as celebrated its third anniversary.

The special meeting opened by TM VCS Nair reading the mission statement of Toastmasters International and introduced the ever energetic Mangalorean President DTM Shameer Ahmed Kudroli.

The president cum master of ceremonies welcomed dignitaries, members and guests. Honored the chief guest of the event TM Mohammed with a bouquet, then addressed the gathering. He emphasized the importance and different meeting format of Advanced Club and its benefit to the members.

Further stressed that, many of its members are seasoned toastmasters, having achieved the high level off Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM) and some are new to the program. Advanced club are only for those who have achieved their competent communicator (CC) at another club.

‘We believe that by pairing a new member with an experienced member, wisdom and skills can be passed on, and fresh eyes can provide insight. Growth and development rates are higher and faster which result in exciting and stimulating meetings. Let us work as ONE TEAM-ONE GOAL to make the advanced club a paradigm to all the other clubs of Jubail Fraternity’

Then invited the founder president of the club TM Waheed Lateef to honor the club by a toast, TM Waheed explained how advanced club was formed in a short period of time in Jubail. After the toast, invited world champion Mohammed, Division L Director DTM Venkatesan, Division E representative DTM Aziz Siddiqui and Al Awal Executive committee to release the half yearly newsletter.

Subsequently, viewing the International winning speech with acceptance speech through the video, the question answer and audience interaction with world champion was moderated by TM Waheed Latif. This segment got the huge response from the audience. WCPS TM Mohammed answered all the questions with humble and humility. Then delivered the message that Family is utmost important in his life than anything else. And stressed that nothing is impossible if we have the goal and determination to achieve it with go for it attitude.

Audience was enthralled with TM Mohammed’s answers for the questions they asked. Mohammed grew up with a stutter and deals with it occasionally. He says that even though the stage empowers him and rids him of the impediment, his vocal delivery will never be his strong point, and neither will his stage presence. But that's fine.

Cake cutting ceremony was held to share the joy of becoming the world champion with Jubail fraternity. Veteran toastmaster like DTM Jacob Kuriakose, DTM Suresh Kumar, TM N. V. Arasu, DTM Venkatesan, and DTM Aziz Siddiqui spoke on the occasion.

On behalf of Al-Awal excom and members, honorable President DTM Shameer Ahmed with VP Education TM Abdullah Khalili, VP Public Relations TM VCS Nair, Secretary TM Fahad Al Nasser Treasurer TM Zainuddin and Sergeant at Arms TM Waheed Latif offered a plaque as gesture of gratitude to world champion.

World Champion with President honored a plaque to TM Fahad Al Nasser, owner of Al Nasser Group for sponsoring the event.

Al Awal members are currently serving the fraternity in topmost level, DTM Khaled Matlagaitu as International Director and DTM Abdullah Al Shareef as District 79 Director-Saudi Arabia. Their contribution have been immensely appreciated by the fraternity.

The event’s photo was captured by amateur photographer TM Abdullah Khalili, registration counter was headed by TM Zainuddin, computer presentation was controlled by Mohammed Farad and vote of thanks offered by TM VCS Nair.

At the end, President DTM Shameer invited all the attendees for a sumptuous dinner arranged in the adjacent dining hall. And informed that such an educative program will be conducted frequently under Al Awal banner for the benefit of Jubail Fraternity.

It was an excellent programme conducted and beneficial for the fraternity. World champion delivered encouraging and inspiring message to the audience. I congratulate all who involved to conduct such a wonderful programme.

Kuwait: The Covid-19 pandemic has pushed the whole world into a difficult situation and the situation of Indians in Kuwait is not any different. Many people have lost their jobs, have no salary, are deprived of food and are not able to pay rent. The appalling conditions of labourers, domestic workers, taxi drivers and low waged earners don’t seem to end in Kuwait. 

At this trying situation when many people were even afraid of leaving their houses because of coronavirus, Suresh S. Rao Neramballi, volunteer of the Food Kit Distribution at the ICSG (Indian Community Support Group) has helped many tremendously. He was ready to go around delivering food kits at any time possible by his car. However, after Kuwait imposed a full curfew from 11th May 2020, no one could take out their vehicles unless they had a curfew pass. 

This did not stop Mr. Suresh Neramballi, who then borrowed a bicycle from a friend and ended up going around in the cycle delivering the food kits in curfew break time (4:30pm to 6:30pm) to all those who registered in the ICSG website. This selfless service surely commands appreciation and applause. Mr. Suresh Neramballi has been a light for many families and bachelors in Kuwait and will surely garner the blessings of them who have been able to eat at this time.

He was also the one who could deliver the food kits to many Indian Muslim maids, bachelors, laborers and families previous day and right on the day of EID, as they were not able to go shopping for their groceries for EID, due to the curfew. They blessed him in EID dua. 

Mr. Suresh Neramballi hails from Mangaluru, India and is an Engineer in the Oil sector company in Kuwait. He has been dedicated to social service, achieved 'Aryabhata International Award' for his Kannada Service and Social service, served in many Associations and Distributor of Kannada and Tulu Movies in Kuwait. He wholeheartedly thanks the people and government of Kuwait for his bread and butter.

God bless you brother and keep you healthy plus happy always.   You will be in the prayers of those who receivec your timely regardles they are hindu or muslim or christian.   This is a slap on the face of hate mongers who are always trying to divide the socieity in the name of religion.    Such people are burden to this world and society.   We should clean our society from such dirt and bad people.   Well done brother.  May God bless you.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.

Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) Chaiman Dr Sam Pitroda held video conference with senior IOC office bearers across Middle Eastern countries on 14th April 2020 to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic among Indians residing in the region. Almost all speakers appreciated the efforts initiated and  implemented by  respective governments to contain spread of the deadly virus as well as measures taken towards welfare of the people affected by the lockdown. 

IOC Presidents, Mohammed Mansour - Bahrain, Abdullah Manjeri - Saudi Arabia, Dr J Ratan kunar - Oman and Girish kumar - Qatar, highlighted the quality treatment of patients and finacial aid provided by governments and other authorities. Bahrain IOC president Mansour , also  apprised about the 'Food for Needy' drive in Association with KHK Heroes foundation, initiated by HH Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa and quality treatments as well as financial aid to local and expat residents.

Anura Mathai, IOC  Global Event Coordinator, spoke about certain problems of Indians in the UAE. IOC Middle East Convener, Mansoor Palloor, emphasised and requested IOC Chairman to urge Indian government to arrange immediate repatriation of indians stranded in Gulf countries. AICC Secretary, Himanshu Vyas, IOC Secretary Dr Arathi Krishna, Dr Arshi Malik (Abha), Mohiuddin Sirajudeen (Jeddah), Advocate Joseph Palathara (Dammam) Prasad Kodru, Jayati Maitra Ziyad Ahmed (Qatar) and Khursheed Alam (Gen Secretary- Bahrain) also apprised the participants about various issues relevant to the pandemic and suggested further initiatives to be undertaken. 

Dr Sam Pitroda briefed about sustained and consolidated efforts by all IOC members  during this unprecedented situation facing the world and assured that he would convey IOC  concerns to the government and try his best to ensure all possible help is made available to all needy Indians.
