Mangaluru, Nov 7: Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kasargod, V.K. Unnikrishnan, was booked by the Sullia police for allegedly assaulting an auto-rickshaw driver and later allegedly assaulting police personnel in the police station on Sunday.
According to Dakshina Kannada Additional Superintendent of Police, C.B. Vedamurthy, Mr. Unnikrishnan (45), who was in an “inebriated state” reportedly assaulted an auto-rickshaw driver in Sullia.
According to sources, Unnikrishnan, who hails from Thrissur had gone to Kukke Subrahmanya Temple. After puja, he returned to Sullia by a bus.
Later, he hired an auto rickshaw belonging to one Aboobakar and started speaking in English. Driver Aboobakar asked requested him to speak in Malayalam or Kannada as he could not understand English.
All of a sudden, Unnikrishnan assaulted the Aboobakar. Shocked by the passenger's behaviour, the driver drove the auto-rickshaw straight to the police station.
Unnikrishnan again assaulted the driver at the police station. When two police personnel tried to intervene, Unnikrishnan assaulted them too.
