Bantwal, Jun 5: Police have arrested two persons in connection with recent violence in Kalladka town of Bantwal taluk.
The arrested have been identified as Swagat, a resident of Manchi, and Sandesh, a resident of Krishnakodi near Golthamajalu.
Two Muslim youths were stabbed by a gang of miscreants belonging to a saffron outfit on May 26 in Kalladka. The youths were returning home after Friday prayers when they were attacked.
The main accused in the case are: Mithun, Yatin, Amit, Acchuta, Naveen, Ranjit and Pushparaj, all said to be activists of a saffron group. The police are still searching for them.
According to police, Swagat and Sandesh had not involved directly in the stabbing. They had helped the main accused to carry out the crime.
The incident had triggered communal tension in the region. A peaceful bandh was observed in Kalladka on May 27. Section 144 was imposed in entire Bantwal taluk till June 9 after the attack
