Kalladka violence: Prohibitory orders in Bantwal taluk extended for 1 more week

Bantwal, Jun 1: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, which was imposed across Bantwal taluk following last week's untoward incidents in Kalladka, has been extended for one more week.sect 2

Mangaluu subdivisional magistrate and ACP A C Renuka Prasad had earlier passed an order imposing prohibitory orders the taluk from 6 a.m. on May 27 to 6 p.m. on Jun 2. However, on June 2, he extended the prohibitory orders for one more week.

With the prohibitory orders in place, people will not be allowed to gather in groups of 5 or more in public places, carry weapons/stones, or hold rallies or public programmes till midnight of June 9.

The trouble began on May 26 when two Muslims youths –Mohammed Hashir and Mohammed Mashooq – were stabbed by a group of miscreants in Kalladka. The victims were returning home after offering Friday prayers in a mosque. The accused have been identified as Mithun, Yatin, Amit, Acchuta, Naveen, Ranjit and Pushparaj, all said to be activists of a saffron group.

A day after the attack, residents of Kalladka had observed a bandh. Calling it a forced bandh, RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and his followers had allegedly forced some people to open their shops.

Bengaluru, May 2: JDS leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy accused the Mandya district administration of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the district and not quarantining 7,000 labourers who arrived here from Mumbai.

"As we know that 16,000 labourers from Mandya were working in Mumbai, out of which 7,000 people have arrived in the district. However, none of them was quarantined properly which is a violation of COVID-19 lockdown," Kumaraswamy told reporters here on Friday.

He claimed the district administration has shown "gross negligence" in their duty in following the procedure of COVID-19 as "one COVID-19 patient's dead body which was brought here from Mumbai has led to more cases in the district and those who accompanied the body have also tested positive for the virus."

Kumaraswamy appealed to the state government to strictly maintain lockdown norms and do not allow any relaxations in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases, stating that "any kind of relaxation could lead to a huge disaster."

Newsroom, Jun 14: Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his house in Mumbai’s Bandra today, was heartbroken after the death of his former manager Disha Salian.

34-year-old actor had posted a heartfelt note after her death: “It’s such devastating news. My deepest condolences to Disha’s family and friends. May your soul rest in peace.” 

The police are considering 28-year-old Disha’s death as an accidental one and the investigation is on to find if it was a suicide. She died after falling off the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai on June 8.

It is not yet known if there is any connection between the two deaths. Sushant’s house help reportedly found him hanging inside his room on Sunday and cops are investigating the case. He was recently seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore and more recently on Netflix opposite Jacqueline Fernandez in Drive.

Who is Disha Salian?

Disha Salian hails from Karnataka’s coastal district of Udupi. She was born in 1992 into a business family background. She reportedly migrated to Mumbai with her family at an early age. 

After completing her education, she worked in the Times of India Group for more than three years. She went on to become the celebrity manager at Media Vantage.

Apart from Sushant, she had great links with many popular celebrities like Bharti Singh, Alisha Panwar, and others.

Bengaluru, Mar 9: The first case of Nov Corona patient was found in Karnataka with a 40 year-old Software Engineer, who returned from US, developing fever today at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in the City. This is the first case reported in the State.

Disclosing this to newsmen, Karnataka Minister for Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar said that the techie, his wife and their one child arrived from US on Feb 28 and were under observation.

He said that there were no indication or any symptoms immediately after their arrival and also for the first four days, but on March 5 the Techie developed fever and today (Monday) it was confirmed that he is suffering from the killer disease.
