Kanachur Institute announces collaboration with USA’s Precision Orthopaedics

Mangaluru, Oct 9: the Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Natekal, Mangaluru has reached a collaboration agreement with Precision Orthopaedics, Texas, USA in providing a Knowledge Exchange Programme and Training in the field of Joint Replacement Surgery.

This programme is in association with The Canara Orthopaedic Society, Mangaluru.

Dr Jalaluddeen M V, Head, Dept of Orthopaedics, KIMS & Dr Jose Mario Marina, Chief Joint Replacement Surgeon, Precision Orthopaedics conducted a Total Knee Replacement (TKR) procedure with a live telecast to the auditorium of Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre on October 9.

The TKR procedure was skilfully conducted by Orthopaedic Surgeons: Dr Jalal & Dr Marina, Anaesthetists: Dr Vincent & Dr Suhas; Nurse Assistants: Sr Laisy, Br Subheesh, Sr Lalitha at Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre, Mangaluru.

The live surgery was followed by a formal progamme. Founder and Chairman of Kanachur Islamic Education Trust, Haji U.K. Monu, Dr. Abdul Rahiman, Director, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. H.S. Virupaksha, Dean, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Deviprasad Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Kanachur Hospital & Research Centre, Dr. Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Medical Officer, Dr. Jalaluddeen M.V. Professor of Orthopaedics, Dr. Jose Marina, Precision Orthopaedics Mission, Texas, USA, Dr. H.R. Rai, President, Canara Orthopaedics Society, Dr. Ajith Kumar, President, K.O.A were present on the dias.

The programme was inaugurated by U.K. Monu. Dr. Ahmed Rizwan C.M. welcomed the gathering. In his address, Dr. Jalaluddeen expressed his thanks to the humble Dr Marina & also thanked all the eminent Orthopaedic Surgeons to come under one roof to help learn and share their art of TKR surgery. He mentioned that soon there will be specialty clinics at Kanachur Hospital in the Department of Orthopaedics in Spine, Deformity Corrections and Arthoplasty.

U.K.Monu in his formal address stressed on the benefit to the patients, keeping the factor Quality of Life (QOL) in view, amidst such world class skill & facility. He said patient satisfaction was a priority to him.

Abdul Rahiman addressed the need for teaching institutions to gather quality skills with rich clinical acumen to ensure amazing outcomes. He also stressed that inspite of caste, creed, race or financial status, Kanachur was equipped to achieve amazing standards with the constant learning and fellowships achieved by the faculty. Dr Marina - Precision Orthopaedics, Mission, Texas, USA in his address, expressed the need to share skills across the borders and was happy to have Kanachur Ortho Team at his facility in the US., Dr. H.R. Rai, President – Canara Orthopaedics Society and Dr. Ajith Kumar, President, K.O.A mentioned the need of the hour for constant learning and sharing of skills.

Mangaluru, Apr 12: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has appealed to the Additional Chief Secretary to Karnataka government Jawaid Akhtar to exclude Dakshina Kannada district from hotspot/ red zone area pertaining to coronavirus, saying that the district has not reported any new case since last five days.

KCCI president Isaac Vas said DK district has not reported any new case of COVID-19 in the last five days. Of the 12 cases reported in the district, six are from Kasargod and one from Bhatkal.

None of the patients suffering from coronavirus are in ICU or put on ventilator, he said in a statement.

Bengaluru, Jun 18: Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) was reprimanded for withholding information, sought by a candidate regarding an examination held in 2005 for Gazeted Probationary posts, by the State Information Commissioner here on Thursday.

According to official sources, the State Information Commissioner NP Ramesh, while disposing off a petition by the candidate, who had written an examination conducted by the KPSC for the gazeted probationary posts held in 2005, had directed to provide the information sought by the candidate, free of costs within ten days.

The State Information Commissioner in his order had termed the conduct of the KPSC as against the spirit of transparency among the public authorities.

Shivamogga, May 10: Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa on Sunday informed that eight people who returned to the state from Gujarat have tested positive for COVID-19 in Shivamogga district.

Shivamogga district is under the green zone category.

"Eight people who have returned from Ahmedabad, Gujarat have tested positive for COVID-19 in Shivamogga," said Eshwarappa.

Last week, the district administration had asked shopkeepers to open their shops on alternate days in order to avoid crowding.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state has so far 794 confirmed COVID-19 cases which include 386 cured or discharged cases and 30 deaths.
