Kannadigas in Dubai witness ‘Vishwa Samskruti Utsava’

Kannadigas residing in Dubai witnessed a harvest of cultural programs and cheered in the wake of a variety of dances presented by more than 70 artists from Karnataka, India. Kamsale, Kathak, Folk, Contemporary and Special Yoga Dance forms were beautifully presented by Davanagere’s Chirantana Team, Guru Shridhar Jain’s Mysuru team, Guru Krupa Phadake Team, Guru Kamakshi team from Bengaluru, Srujana Art Academy and Dr. Lata Shekhar Team. 

Dubai's dignitaries and Special guests from India's made the World Culture Festival proud by assuming their chairs on stage. The presence of Dr. B R Shetty on stage contributed richness to the program. On stage, Dr.Sheela Sridhar, Mr. Yeshwant Sareshpande repesented India while Mr. Harish Shergarh, Mr. Muhammad Mustaffa, Mr. Zafrullah Khan, Mr. Yusuf Al Blushi and Mr. Mallikarjuna Gowda repesented Dubai. 

The International Excellence Award was presented to the honorable men and women who served in various fields on this occasion. Sri Harish Sherigar was honored for his proKannada organization and music, Mrs. Revathi Kamat was honored for reviving Somahalli Lake by planting 2 lakh saplings, Dr. Lata Shekar was honoured for her services in the field of Bhartanatyam, Mr. Srinivasa Murthy was awarded for his services in the field of employment to Indians in UAE, Guru Sridhar Jain was honoured for his services in the field of Dance and Social Service. Also, the Heads of Pro-Kannada organizations, UAE were honored during the event.

Later in his speech Dr. B R Shetty appreciated the efforts made by Chirantana and mentioned that “Vishwa Samskruti Utsava – World Culture Festival” is one of the magnificent programs he has witnessed in Dubai recently.

Dances on the tunes of Vande Mataram, Lokada Kannige, Chellidaru Malligeya and Rangeelo Maro fantasied the audience. Kamsale Dance by Nrutya siri team ignited the spirit among the crowd. The team of Nrutya Degula performed Dasahavataara, Yoga Dance energised everyone. The dances for Deepavu Ninnade, Barisu Kannada Dimdimava by Chirantana team excited and thrilled the Kannadigas present at the auditorium. Prior to the Dance show, Little Samhita S Muthalik resonated Kannada folk songs in her sweet voice and entertained the audience. Inspired by the show, Mr. Harish Sherigar blazed the stage by singing a popular number of Dr. Rajkumar, the matinee idol of Kannada Cinema.

By recognizing the achievers and by the performances of variety of dances from the various artists from Karnataka, India Chirantana became successful in spreading the Kannada vibrancy and cultural splendor in Dubai. Various Kannada organizations of UAE have contributed to the success of the program. Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Al Ain Kannada Sangha and Kanndigaru Dubai joined hands with Chirantna to make sure over 1200 spectators to witness the spectacular, colourful and youthful event. Overall Chirantana gave a chance to see top artists, literary elites on the same stage and enjoy high quality dances through “Vishwa Samskruti Utsava” for the Dubai Kannadigaru.

The successful “Vishwa Samskruti Utsava – World Culture Festival” was led and directed by Smt. Deepa N Rao, founder of Chirantana while aided by Mr. Madhava Padaki & Smt. Alakanada M.S and coordinated by Dubai’s Mr. M S Arun, Mr. Noel Almeda, Mr. Prashanth Acharya , Mr. Sadandas and Mr. Sundaresh S.

Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee, Saudi Arabia organized Republic Day program at AlRyan Policlinic Restaurant Auditorium, Dammam on 25th January 2020.

Abdul Waris, Former Chairman of Indian International School Dammam Inaugurated the program.

Wasim Rabbani, president of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee Presided over the program.

Mansoor Shah KFUPM, Indian Social Forum Delhi Zone President, Dr. Fayaz Ahmed from King Fahad University Hospital, Amir Moulavi, Executive Member,  India Fraternity Forum (IFF) Dammam, Nasir Koduvalli, Indian Social Forum, Kerala State President, Dammam, Sharief, Social Forum Karnataka State President, DammamJahangir Moulavi, Tamilnadu State president delivered speech at the program. Mohammed Firoz, Indian Social Forum  President, Jubail read the preamble of constitution. 

 Nameer Kerala , Secretary, Social Forum Central Committee welcomed guests while Ashraf Karnataka, General Secretary, Central Committee delivered vote of thanks and Tahir Hyderabad, Secretary, Indian Social Forum, Central Committee coordinated the program.

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.
